The Mosques in the US aren’t politicized. You wont find any imams making incendiary speeches there. I have never come across any sort of suspicious activity in US mosques. The problem isnt the mosques, its the internet. Its the racism and open bigotry which creates the extremist mindset. When a young Muslim is trying to find his or her place in society, seeing all these attacks on Muslims and Islam, he or she begins to identify more with Islam and Muslims out of insecurity. That feeling of insecurity can easily be exploited by the likes of DAESH… There are suspicious characters among western Muslims, but the state is aware of those people. They know who they are. They dont need to monitor the Mosques, they need to monitor those people who are known to espouse extremist ideology.
