(Reuters) - Members of an al Qaeda-linked Islamist group in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo executed a 15-year-old boy in front of his parents on Sunday as punishment for what the group regarded as a heretical comment, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Mohammad Qataa was shot in the face and neck a day after being seized, said the pro-opposition monitoring group, which is based in Britain and uses a network of observers across Syria.

“The Observatory cannot ignore these crimes, which only serve the enemies of the revolution and the enemies of humanity,” said the group’s leader Rami Abdulrahman.

A photo released by the Observatory showed Qataa’s face with his mouth and jaw bloodied and destroyed, as well as a bullet wound in his neck.

The Observatory, which based its report on witness accounts of the killing, said Qataa, who was a street vendor selling coffee in the working-class Shaar neighborhood, had been arguing with someone when he was overheard saying: “Even if the Prophet Mohammad comes down (from heaven), I will not become a believer.”

The gunmen, who belong to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a militant group that started off known as the Nusra Front, took Qatta on Saturday and brought him back alive in the early hours of Sunday to his wooden stand, with whiplash marks visible on his body.

“People gathered around him and a member of the fighting brigade said: 'Generous citizens of Aleppo, disbelieving in God is polytheism and cursing the prophet is a polytheism. Whoever curses even once will be punished like this.”

“He then fired two bullets from an automatic rifle in view of the crowd and in front of the boy’s mother and father, and got into a car and left,” the report said.

Abdulrahman said the boy’s mother had pleaded with the killers, whose Arabic suggested they might not be Syrian, not to shoot her son. Qataa’s parents said the youth had taken part in pro-democracy demonstrations in Aleppo.

Since last year, large parts of the city have fallen under the control of Islamist brigades, including the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, as well as other rebel units.

and there is International Jihadis there doing their bid too. The other day Belgian people got a surprise of the day when a man involved in Qaeda style beheading in Syria was heard on camera speaking Belgian!

They are foreigners....Syrian revolution has attracted these devils from all over the world. It's a sad situation that Syria is in. On one hand, they have Assad the butcher and on the other these devils.

This is a sad, sad situation ... now take note carefully that this is a clear sign that the rebels are not one group ... Some outsiders have come in trying to get glory themselves ...

The Syrian revolution has been hijacked by Islamist fundamentals who want to impose their brand of Islam on everyone else. That is why there is huge reluctance on part of the US and EU to armed the rebels b/c we simply do not know who they rebels are anymore. And, as Russia, Iran & Hizbullah continue to support Assad's regime, you will seen territorial gains made by rebels to be reversed. We're already seeing that, and thanks to international jihadis the Syrians people may have 2nd thought about their support of these murderers.

Denunciation of the execution of a boy in Aleppo

A group of Muslim fighters in Aleppo executed yesterday a fourteen-year-old boy in after accusing him of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

We denounce this inhuman unIslamic crime; and we demand that the murderers be captured and brought to justice. They are but a gang of criminals who use religion to cover their thirst for power.

What these criminals just committed is one of the most cruel crimes ever perpetrated by the name of Islam. They murdered an innocent life and executed a child who happened to be a good Muslim from a righteous family who observes Islam; and we confirm that what the child said is not balsphemy against the Prophet of Islam in any form.

In response to the crime, we have issued a detailed fatwa on the impossibility of the implementation of Islamic penalties in today's Syria. We explained with valid proofs all the errors and fallacies in this crime which was wrongly done in the name of Islamic Shari'a.

On this painful occasion, we call upon all foreign fighters to leave Syria and go back to their homelands. We know our country better and we confirm that we do not need fighters and we thank everyone who sincerely want to help our people. Yet, we announce that what our people need most is food and medicine and what the Free Syrian Army needs most is ammunition.

Last but not least, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of the boy, praying that Allah grant them patience and forbearance and that their child precede them to the Heavens. We pray that Allah bestow His Infinite Mercy to the martyrs of our country and that He grant our people victory and relieve them from their agony.

“He was talking to this guy and told him, ‘I don’t want to lend you anything,’ ” the teenager’s father quoted him as saying.

“If Muhammad, peace be upon him, were to come to this earth right now, I would still not lend a cup of coffee to anyone unless they pay for it,” the teenager said.

Yes, they condemn killings in Pakistan too. But it doesn't stop killings.

This is why I say that fasadis are nobody’s friends. And Syrian rebels need to realize it soon. Just like Iraqis realized it and helped Americans get rid of them. Democracy can still be achieved in Syria. But it can be achieved with peaceful means. Violence will only destroy Syria more and more, and make Syrians hate each other more and more.
It is due to welcoming these fasadis from around the world that Syrian rebellion has become a sectarian issue. Otherwise earlier the rebels also included Alawiites.

Pakistan also lost the support of majority of Kashmiris after they realized what monsters Pakistan had been sending in Kashmir. Before 80s, most Kashmiris wanted to join Pakistan but now majority want Independence.

Anybody with sane mind would prefer Bashar over the rebels or Qaeda or whatever. Opposition group to Bashar was dodgy from day one with all their leaders commanding and arranging meetings in the Western capitals and on the top finance coming from royals of Saudi Arab and other gulf states.

You don’t get it do you … Shaykh al-Yaqoubi among many other things is one of the official voices of the rebels … If he denounces the foreign fighters then that means the rebels are also doing that …

You are making it out as if the rebels invited these fighters in and are to be blamed for the ongoing atrocities by both sides !

No anyone with a sane mind would prefer to flea or fight oppression until they die - choosing to be killed by truck or a bus is no choice at all.

Actually, it is you who doesn't get it, or don't want to get it. Khariji takfiris are leading rebellion presently, and it is admitted by the whole world. In the absence of Assad, they would be the ones running the country their fasadi way.
This is one reason Americans and Europeans are still so skeptical of providing weapons to rebels. Even when they know how big of help to Israel would it be to remove Assad and thus eliminate Israel's biggest nuisance, Hezbollah.

It is Qaeda calling shots in Syria. It is they whose opinion matters. It is they who have money and backing of states like Saudis or Qatar.
