Islamic Trivia - Lets see how much you know!!!

Asalamu Alekum

I thought, I should start something different in this dying forum. With bashing other deviant sects on curfew, that is another set-back.

Ok, I will stop with my brags and complains.

Here is the real DEAL:

First things first.
Come up with trivia question(s) about Islam, Islamic history, etc. etc.

Post that question in this thread and let someone answer that question with best of their ability[in other words, be accurate] and than someone else asks another question or two about something else related to Islam and someone provides the correct, factual answer and than we move on…just like that.

How do you like it? If you have misunderstood me or maybe I have made things complicated for you, please let us know of any simpler way to do this. Thank You.

I will start from the basics:

1. When was Prophet Mohammad(pbuh) born?

[YOU] take it easy now.

PS: As the questions get harder and we get more into Islam, you MUST provide your references if needed with your answers, please. THANK YOU!

Hey nice post watcher.

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif

But probably there should be more than just one thread to cover the ideas you have.
“When was Prophet Mohammad(pbuh) born?”
Ah,too easy for me.I’ll let someone else answer this one.

Ahmed,

Why don’t you answer the question - if everyone starts to avoid the question “its to easy for me” than the question will never be answered, hehe. So go ahead answer and ASK us some other question, we will go on from there.

Anyone else wanna give it a shot?

its 17th rabil awwal ..i m not sure about the year though

There are two major school of thoughts shia’s and sunnies.
According to sunnies it is 12th Rabbi-ul Awwal, 622 AD
And by Shia’s its 17th Rabbi-ul Awwal, 622 AD

Both claim it right on thier sides, so I go by both and earn SWAB from both sides

howz that

Take it easy and remember the lesson.

Islamic calender was created by the event of Hijrah and it is based upon moon sightings. Before the event of hijrah no one was keeping the dates of moon sightings and there was no record keeping. So I am not sure how people could calculate a date in the past for which there was no scientific proof. This date could only be an intelligent guess at best. It is bound to be controversial as is everything else between shias and suunis.

mm, since you gave us the answer, why don’t you ask us another question.

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif

Please.

That is how it is: You give answer and than you ask one, if you cant or don’t want to, let us know.

MM, didn’t you read the intial post? I asked a question, you answered it, and than you ask a question. Who ever answers the question, should ask us the question and so on. Do you understand that?

Sadia, wanna ask us a question? Please.

Naeem, don’t throw too many questions at once, one by one. See how its working out so far? I asked, mm answered, he asked, sadia answered and now she will ask and someone else will answer and they will ask..so on. Please.

Since no one wants to ask the questions, I will ask the question for you. Does that help you guys? But, I will increase the number of questions this time. Three questions will be presented and you should answer all three before I ask another three questions. Does that sound ok to you people - or do I have to get little more kindergarten?

Dont mean to sway from the main course of this thread, but one point to note is regarding a discrepancy that we have in Prophets SAW date of birth. A couple of different dates have been cited. Who knows which one is the correct date. However, more importantly, the common mistake among all dates is the mixture of the Hijar and Gregorian calendars. 12 Rabiul Awwal, 571 AD, or 17 Rabiul Awwal 571 AD is not a correct date. Rabiul Awwal is a month from the Hijri calendar, and 571 AD is a Gregorian calendar year.

Prophet SAW was born on 12 Rabiul Awwal, 54PH (pre-hijrah) and died on 12 Rabiul Awwal, 11AH (after hijrah).
The gregorian date for his birth is some day in April, and the year was 571 AD. And the year of his death was 634 AD.

Prophet SAW was 63 when he died, in gregorian years. In Hijra years, he was almost 65 when he died.
