Islamic Studies for Children

To change things up this Ramadan I’ve started my daughter on an Islamic Studies course that I picked up at a local store. You can find the individual books here: Islamic Studies Books For Kids,Islamic Studies Courses,Goodword Islamic Studies

I am simply amazed at how comprehensive the course is. I purchased a boxed set of 10 books, graded from level one to ten. Each book is divided into sections and has exercises at the end of chapters to test the child’s retention. Obviously the level of difficulty increases with each grade.

Since the basics covered in Grades 1 and 2 and partially 3 was known to my daughter, we have already moved to testing at the end of Grade 3 and reading Grade 4.

Alongside this course I also picked up some flashcards. I’m using them to provide her with a basic understanding of Arabic as well as increase her familiarity of the words so that she can improve her Quran recitation.

Re: Islamic Studies for Children

This is such a great idea! Adherence to Islam definitely starts in the home. My chachu has 3 kids (15, 7 and 5) and all three of them pray 5 times a day (the little one even wakes up for fajr namaaz!) and all I can say is...hats off to their mother. She has done an amazing job in giving them a completely balanced, yet Islamic, upbringing. They also attend Islamic schools and I know that makes a big difference too.
