It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâm), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it). (At-Tawbah 9:33)
actually the translation seems to be wrong, the actual word is used "deen", which encompasses a whole lot than just "religion". deen is a way of life, so islam is sent to SUPPRESS all other ways of life other than its own. if iwe go by the translation that islam came to suppress other religions then islam would force people to renounce their old religions once they are captured. but instead, non muslims are allowed to remain non muslims as long as their way of life is under islamic law. so it proves that the word deen is different than religion. wallah o alam.
