Re: Islamic schools in Toronto
if you're keen on sending your kids to an islamic school, then go for it. there's some really good ones out there that teach according to the ontario cirriculum as well as teaching arabic and islamic studies. and they teach arabic as a language, not as something you learn just so that you can read the Qu'ran.
if you're looking for a high school, there's one in scarborough called the madinatul-uloom. i believe they have pick up and drop off services.
the only thing with islamic schools, besides the education, is that children are taught to respect elders and behave with respect towards the other gender. but in the end, kids will be kids. they're still gonna learn how to swear from their friends and learn all those other things you don't want 'em too. just walk down the hallways of an islamic school one day, and you'll be quite surprised :p
i personally think if a child isn't taught the basic foundation of his/her religion at home, then sending a child to an islamic school isn't going to accomplish much. you can send your child to a public school and they can turn out just fine - just depends on how you raise 'em :)
