Re: Islamic Point of View regarding Medical Treatment
I have read in Islamic history that women used to take care of injured of jihad. Is it true ? If it is then there is your answer.
Re: Islamic Point of View regarding Medical Treatment
preferably, male on male and female on female would be ideal but in the real world it's rather NOT possible at all the places and at all times...so, if there isn't any choice and the surgery is necessary then a person can have the procedure done by a surgeon of the opposite gender...NO shara'ii qabaaHat there!!!
Re: Islamic Point of View regarding Medical Treatment
Peace All,
Mirch Bhai! I am not talking about 'emergency cases' but in general surgery which patient know that will going to be done. I came to know that the delivery of a newborn baby mostly done by male doctors.
That is why I asked this question.
Re: Islamic Point of View regarding Medical Treatment
Touching or exposing yourself in front of na mehram is haraam, but to save life (of the patient) is farz. When It comes to saving life, Haram becomes halal if that is the only option. This is why it is allowed to eat pork if person is dying from hunger and pork is the only food available.

Another question:
If a patient is a 'Muslim' he/she must ask for male/female doctor. Isn't this duty falls on Muslim doctors too to inform the patient either he/she would like to be treated by male or female doctor?
I wonder how many muslim doctors ask patients.

History will only tell you about emergency situations. Normal life of normal people is not well documented ever. Is there any evidence that it was specifically forbidden after jihad. Surgery is always and emergency . Except of course cosmetics surgery.
A small problem can turn into emergency if not attended to in time.

Peace Mirch!
