I have just started looking at venues in Islamabad for baraat (350 people).

The options are:

  • Marriott
  • Serena
  • Avalon Marquee
  • Khiva lawns
  • Pearl Continental in Pindi

How do they compare against each other ? Any ideas of the costs for each ? Any pros and cons ?

Khiva= from 499/head upto 1999/head without taxes. These charges only cover food. The venue charges from Rs 9,99 upto 299,999 depending on marquee size. Charges for crockery, cutlery and chaffing dishes are 99/head. Sound system basic= 4,999 upto Rs. 99,99. Stage decor, entrance and flower arrangement starts from Rs9,99 upto Rs499,999. Generator= Rs 9,999 upto Rs24,999. I have their brochure in my hand right now. Visited their marquees last week. These are just basic charges, there's a whole list of other stuff like decorative lightening, valet parking etc

the union of Banquet halls and weddi g lanws had a stay from court upon recent taxes so till today there are no taxes yet
any one who is charging filling his own pocket beware
it's very genuine news

Pearl Continental in Pindi is also gud and provided good services

I don't have any idea for other venues but I had attended a wedding at Marriott and found it really classy and luxurious. It's a beautiful place with reasonable cost.
