On 1st August 2004 Pakistan Railways have started a new train service that operates daily between Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Before that day the fastest way to travel between those 2 cities was the Daewoo Bus Service, which took 4 hours and 15 minutes.

That new train breaks that record and transports travellers from Lahore to Rawalpindi or vice versa in 3 hours and 45 minutes!

The daily schedule is:

Departure from Lahore: 6.00 AM
Arrival in Rawalpindi: 9.45 AM

Departure from Rawalpindi: 6.00 PM
Arrival in Lahore: 9.45 PM

yeah maybe- but at least the daewoo buses leave on time. With Pakistan Railways, the train may be upto 12 hours late !!

This schedule seems catered in particular for tourists to Lahore's famous places. ;)

It is an awesome service, a better experience than daewoo. I went to drop my cousin and it was like a plane or something Hope such trains will start betweem longer routes too.

It´s approximately 300 km (= 186 miles).

this is really cool, hope they can leave on time... are these trains new or refurbs? Is the fare similar to Daewoo? .. BTW Daewoo is great..

tell you what... This is the most astonoshing news about PAK railway i have ever heard. I mean railway is full of those old farts who never want to change how things go on!

I am impressed, but lets see if they do sth to chage there rep!
