Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

The head of a radical mosque in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, has threatened to use suicide bomb attacks against the government.

Maulana Abdul Aziz made his defiant call to thousands of followers during Friday prayers. The government is facing calls to clamp down on the activites of students in two madrassas attached to the mosque. If the government does take action, “our last resort will be suicide bombings”, Mr Aziz declared.
He also demanded that the government close down Islamabad’s video shops and brothels within one month.

The Taleban-style activity of Mr Aziz’s followers in the capital has caused outrage among human rights activists. Last week female students from a madrassa that is part of Mr Aziz’s Lal Masjid (red mosque) complex abducted a woman they accused of running a brothel, holding her captive for two days. Some of the students are also staging an armed occupation of a children’s library in the capital. The government says it hopes to resolve its differences by peaceful means.

**Shariat enforced in the vicinity of Lal Masjid, Jamia Hafsa

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Im fuming... I hope these dogs burn in hell... Suicide bombing or not, these people must be shut down! The govt BETTER do something.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

This really annoys me. Freaking Islamists, the people dont want nonsense of religious law ruining there lives. Govt should KO the mosque, arrest the mullahs, and humiliate them as per Camp Xray.

Or arrest there families and torture them.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

oh crap, i apologise for defending this institute. i agree with them that there should be not one brothel in pakistan, cd/dvd are polluting morals, shariat laws are within acceptable political spectrum but a call to arms is too much. anarchists

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

What, you thought they were just gonna cause a little trouble and then go back to their crappy little madrassa?
Everyone knew this was coming... These people are worse then animals, they deserve everything they get!

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Now that he's calling for suicide bombing the police should move in and try him for treason

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

^ I agree. It's time for the government to stop sitting on their hands on this one. If they cannot even manage to control Islamabad, then what's in store for the rest of the country?

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

I say WACO them. Where is Janet Reno when you need her.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Suicide = Haraam

except for cases like what Pakistani Army did in war of 65...

I dun get it ... these scholars have traits of "Ulama-e-Su" ....

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

dekho AQ pehlay hi hum nay kaha tha that these guys are a class khachar, but then the brigade showed up to defend their actions and all. And now this.

these 'scholars' have traits of ullu kay pathay

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

doesnt pakistan have any reserved conservative people in a population nearly 200 million
its just an armed war between center left and extreme extreme right

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

vroom the challenge is multi faceted,
desis tend to see things in black and white. so the logic is if Musharraf is wrong, lets say in the issue of relocating mosques, then anyone opposed to him is right.

In additon we suffer from the age old enemy of my enemy is my friend thinking. We dont like Musharraf or his enlighened moderation/liberalization/modernization/bayhayai/fahashi etc (whatever pakkh ppl find in it) so anyone opposed to it is right..

Lastly it is very easy to fool people when one raises the banner of islam .. "islaam khatray mein haaay!!!!!!!" and people start supporting such louts. Without thinking what these people are saying have been saying and who they are.

The people who were jumping up and down supporting these automatn ninja idiots and their weirdo beardo psycho bosses are now nowhere to be seen.

Although I fully expect some to come out in support of suicide bombings now.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

This is all a "topi drama".

Suddenly when President has recieved almost universal condemnation from all quarters for his handling of CJ case and people's distrust of present regime is evident, and uncle Sam is changing tones, Lal Masjid whic happens to be located very near to ISI headquarters announces Talibanization. How convinient.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

I guess then they had a crystal ball because the whole conroversy with the illegal mosques relocation started quite a while back.

I mean if Musharraf is that cunning that he can look at all potential possibilities and can have cards up his sleeve, then dude....we need that man to stay in power.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

BhaiJaan

A person with one working neuron in his brain can understand that Sharat cannot be enforced in capital city of Pakistan with few hundred Danda Bardaars.

Even the clergy who supported the original Taliban have opposed the move. Taqi Usmani went from Karachi to talk these people off from this non-sense, but they are not backing down.

My take on this is that this is just a topi drama, let other "issues" facing Presideny settle down and we'll not hear from this Lal Masjid anymore.

Lets see what happens in next few months and we'll know what is it all about.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Well, it was all just very convenient for them... They occupied the Library, no one said anything, in fact that toady minister for relgious stuff, whatever his name is even apologized and laid a symbolic brick in place... This comined with all the rest of the stuff happening in the country and within the capital combined to make it the most oppurtune time..
If I were head of the madrassa, and thank god im not, I would have done the same considering how tied up the govt is these days.
Musharaf has made sooooo many mistakes lately, that I seriously question his capacity to lead.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

According to reports they are in the few thousands not a few Hundred... Those Ninja chicks number in about 3000 or so...
And if these people actually have suicide bombers in the wings, the govt cant do anything... Bomb one cd shop for example, and the message is loud and clear.
Govt cant defend anyone against suicide bombers.
But you never know, it is possible that there are some sane students over there, but we will have to see what happens.

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Exactly... If nothing else, round up every student they have, assess how much of a threat they are and throw them in prison...

Re: Islamabad faces suicide bomb call

Has anyone living in Islamabad gotten a chance to visit one of the cd or video shops in Islamabad? What the atmosphere there?
