Islam...

…for me is like clothing…A well made suit, designed to make you feel and look good…

Some wear this piece of clothing and look good in it…They take care of it, they keep it clean making sure that no filth or dirt touches it…It fits them well and those who see the wearer will see someone who is proud of the clothes he wears and looks comfortable and great wearing it…

On some people it looks ill-fitting…It’s tight in some people and pinches in others…They are visibly uncomfortable in some places in it while in the others they are comfortable…It’s like they wore it without making sure which parts were ironed out and which weren’t and what goes where…

Some don’t care how it looks…They walk around in tatters with pieces of it dragging behind them, a patch here a patch there a hole here a hole there…While walking it gets entangled and a piece of it gets torn off…Sometimes they pick it up, sometimes they leave it lying…

Some have folded it and put it in the cupboard with the Quran and walk around naked…Looking at them one can’t tell whether he is wearing Islam or some other darn cloth…It’s only after you tell them about Islam or if they have done something wrong that they run to their cupboard and throw the clothes in your face while still remaining naked…The clothes reek of never having been worn or taken care of…

And some are trying it on…They are seeing how it looks on them and how they feel in it…Their faces show how much they like it and we see how good they look in it…

nice analogy Lajawab.. how about some who insist you wear it exactly as they think it should be worn because that's the way some 10th century expert on clothes decided to wear it.. seems awfully restrictive don't u think.. makes one feel so frustrated and suffocated as to want to go without clothes altogether...

PA, how about those who want to alter this dress to a point beyond recognition and still want to insist that its the same dress?

Perhaps some should stop being fashion critics and worry about their own clothes. They may not be the snappy dressers they think themselves to be and have no clue as to what's in style with God.

Thanks for sharing Lajawab. Great post. :jazak:

maybe they are those who get the bigger picture that clothes are for covering and protection .. they must not always be fashioned after outdated designs from the past.

Islam is a dress which altered in any way loses its originality and beauty...Copycats are everywhere, but the original always is a class in its own self...No amount of alteration or shortening or lengthening can bring out the beauty which was originally put into it...

Clothes should be changed to fit the surrounding.

Yes.. and the very characteristics of a good 'design' for clothes is that it doesn't enforce one particular fashion on you but emphasizes the importance of why you're wearing clothes in the first place.

Human being were born wearing Robe and head scarf...

Nice analogy Lajawab..deeply moved :jazak:
