The thing is that i have always believed that islam is a religion with complete freedom. It teaches you the right and tells you to stay away from the wrong.
Since islam tells you whats right and wrong i have always felt a self imposed need to do the right and stay away from the wrong.
I used to see people doing wrong and feel that shouldnt be doing it, but i always felt that it was their right to do what they choose. Freedom to do what they chose.
for example i felt that the taliban … imposing rules (keeping beards and other such stuff ) as ridiculous. Since the people no longer had freedom to make the choice themselves.
I started thinking why would they do such a thing. Whats getting to me is that islam teaches us that when a whole people or nation does wrong they will be punished as a group… including all the good people.
Is that good enough a reason to impose laws on people to protect the whole group from punishment. Control the “mischief makers” or should we let the people be as they are and let them do as they so choose.
What do you people think? what are your views?
PS this thread is not about beards … but where do you draw the line between letting people do what they want to and when should laws come into the picture.
