Islam does protect women!

All you guys are right! Responsibility lies on both the genders. And it first lies on us Muslims.

women can only do so much. Sorry we can't make ourselves invisible, nor can we stay 365 days cooped in a room.

Nobody implied that. Just that if women tried themselves to not make a display of themselves, then more women would be respected.

frankly ammar i've seen otherwise.. In Pakistan women no matter how well clad are still 'stared at' and women dressed similarly consider themselves lucky if they can get looks in the Western world.

Biology.

Guys in particular, and parents of young children (particularly parents of teenage sons), should read this:

Modesty for Men, A. Abdullah

Frequently Asked Questions About Modesty

PA i agree, women are not treated respectfully in pakistan. this has a lot to do with lack of religious teaching, some cultural issues (guys can get away with everything), and a lack of a mature medium of sex ed.

what is "watching movies" if not ogling at heroes and heroines? u can visit the image gllery on this forum itself and see people saying "he/she is hot" what does one make of this. it is all hypocrisy.

As far as dressing of women is concerned I think all Muslims women should dress appropriately but I don't know if Muslim women living in the West still can wear the actual Islamic long dress because these days it's rather something that will allow people to draw special attention to them and also harm them(few months back a hijabun was raped and killed in Chicago)....In that case, what should we do?? Should we still wear burka? I don't think so because the main purpose of wearing hijab was that it provided protection for women...

Thats a really good pint. In that case women should dress as appropriately as possible ie not completely violating islamic laws.

islam only protects women underneath an islamic state,

sisters get refused education in france because they were hijab

in the west sisters wearing hijab have been raped, beaten up, burned because we are muslims

the honour for all muslims is the islamic state
