Islam Courses in the UK

I’ve always been interested in religion, I was born into a Deobandi/Barelvi family but I was impressed by the Salaafi concept of Tawheed (Monotheism), their lack of blind Taqleed (adherence) of any one school of judisprudence and their claim that they follow the Quraan and Sunnah according to the Salaaf (the first three generation of Muslims: Sahaabah, Tabieen, Tabi-Tabieen)…

So I bought some Salaafi books from the net to teach me their way of carrying out the religious rituals (not much different except Rafa Al-Yadain) and I started identifiying as Salaafi for a while but then I read some fatwa’s and speeches by some Salaafi clerics which I found very unpalatable and very disagreeable…

…I know there’s sub-sects within Salaafiyyah and not all Salaafis subscribe to the messed up views of the few but I don’t identify as Salaafi anymore, I’m just a freelance Muslim now who believes in and tries to follow the Quraan and Sunnah because I think no sect I’ve come across is perfect or 100% inline with Quran and Sunnah, all the ones I’ve come across have some good and some bad…

…I’m probably going to stay a plain simple freelance Muslim but because the Sunnah for me is contained within the Sihah Sittah (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi etc…) I’ll be classed as Sunni by default because these are Sunni collections.

I’ll listen to all clerics, whether it’s Tahir ul-Qadri or Manzoor Nomani but if what they say is not from/inline-with the Quran and Sunnah then I’ll take it with a pinch of salt, I don’t care what any Sheikh said if it’s not backed up by Allah and His Prophet PBUH.

The Shiahs have different Ahadith, so Shiah clerics might aswell be reading the bagwad gita when they quote their own ahadith because I don’t know nothing about their ahadith. I’d like to study them so that I know if there’s any truth to them, and even if there’s not then knowing that will help me in doing da’wah to Shiahs.

Are there any institutions in the UK which offer Aalim (courses) on Islam from both the Sunni and Shiah point of view?

I’d really like to study Sunnism and Shiahism in detail and make up my own mind rather than relying on what Mullah and hate websites say, because both will twist, misintrepret and mispresent the facts to suit their own agendas.

I wish more people were genuinely interested in the truth rather than just patronising their own sect simply because they are born into it.

Salaam,

Recently, I was sent this link to an online darul uloom.

DarulUlum Online

If you are looking for an offline one I can suggest a couple..

Where abouts are you located?

Re: Islam Courses in the UK

Thanks, I'd like some offline ones too.

I don't want to go to a traditional Dar Ul-Uloom or Madrassah because I want to fit it around my work schedule.

Do you know any in the NW of the UK?

as-salamu alaykum

brother, it is sad to hear to that you had to counter these neo-salafis and they have ended up creating more fitnah for you. I know how you feel because I also once affiliated myself with them.

this is very very dangerous thing to do my brother because you are NOT qualified to look at the Qur'an and the Sunnah to derive rulings or check what is against or in harmony with the text. Directly looking at the text to interpret it or derive rulings requires that you have mastered the Arabic language and other Islamic sciences. However, you are no where close to it. Hence, people like us are commanded by Allah to ask those who have knowledge. So what you need to do is find a trustworthy sunni scholars, who is known for his knowledge and piety, and seek fatawas from him and/or learn from him. It is safer and permissible to stick to one math-hab when studying fiqh.

People like Tahir ul-Qadri are big no no due to severe problems in their aqeedah.

May Allah make everything easier for you and keep you on haqq, ameen
