Islam and the rest of World

Re: Islam and the rest of World

For once I agree with you completely......... :D

Re: Islam and the rest of World

I feel humbled and honored!!!:D

Re: Islam and the rest of World

That’s not a trustworthy definition. Indeed, secularism is often marked by an intolerance towards religoin, and an outright hostility to it in the public sphere…so using it as a guage for tolerance is at best suspect.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

i didn't highlight secularism there. I just got this definition from that website.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Being intollerant of intollerance is the key.

Removing Mullahs and intollerant fundamentalists from the society will help in our progress. Who will bell the cat (the Maulavi Talibanics)? it is a $million question (or prize money).

Re: Islam and the rest of World

I think being intolerant and acting upon it has been "worked" into the fundamentalist definition, kind of like how "holy war" was worked into Jihad - even though the definition is* struggle*.

WaSalaam

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Wordplay. For example, I AM being intolerant of intolerance....I am intolerant of those who have an intolerance towards God and his final Prophet (pbuh). Yet, that would be described as a fundamentalist view.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

So you a mere mortal is out there to defend God from those who are being intolrant towards God. Wow man! you must be carrying a mighty big stick.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

and bcause of some intolerant people the rest of muslims are judged as guilty till proven otherwise.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Now should the remainder of the Muslims sit at home and cuss off the handful Muslims who've caused problems or should they get out and start clarifying the misconceptions?

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Not at all the implication of what was said above. Defence is one thing, toleration is another.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Misconceptions can be hard to clarify when they are based at least partly on fact. Take for example the ridiculous response by some Muslims to the cartoon controversy. How is one supposed to clarify the violence in Muslim countries? Condemning something can only go so far.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Is it one of the reasons that so many of the new generation are getting away from the religion?
Is it that new generation do not want to be labelled as the fanatics? and they see that the only way to do so is to oppose religion.

(just a thought)

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Those in authority and sane Muslims in general needed to (or perhaps still need to) speak up and get the word out that it was an unacceptable approach that Muslims took to curb the problem.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

and get ready to be lynched by the mullah brigade?

try to visualise doing the thing which you have suggested in Pakistan. i can bet you will be opposed from all sides equally. believe me you will be labelled as "kafir".

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Since when has Pakistan become an epitome of correct Islam or Muslims or even any other nation for that matter?

Besides, I could care less about what Pakistani leaders and scholars have to say if their opinion is to burn cars, flags, buildings, and act insane on the streets.

If you were to ask me the cartoons were wrong, but the violent and psychotic outburst was just as bad. We lost all grounds by acting insane. I've yet to come across any Islamic teaching that propagates such non-sense.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

I agree and glad you mentioned it as I was gonna do the same.

We know the intolerance is not only from ALL religious people but it recently came into light very strongly when France (professing SECULARISM) forced people from ANY religion to avoid wearing religious symbols........ (or Arabian attire of scarf.....considered a religious attire by many including french).

Re: Islam and the rest of World

Sadiyah, please avoid these sorry excuses!. Islam is Islam. There is no incorrect vs. correct version.

Why? because incorrect version of Islam is known as "kufr".

p.s. Incorrect Islam doesn't make sense just as saying "crooked (straight path) Sirate Mustaqeem.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

I think many religious people have come out to clarify the misconception worldwide about Islam except for few minority illiterate people and we as muslims have centuries of tolerance to other religion by giving senctuary to other religion proving that muslims are tolerant in general. Where would all other religions be if muslims really were intolerant during the days when they ruled major parts of the world?

Great Salahuddin Ayubi (Saladin) had all the options and he did not choose the wrong option!

No one can help if the wave of media and its followers are themselves intolerant to islam and muslims.

Re: Islam and the rest of World

You make sense, though who knows what's correct Islam
Taliban, Pakistan's clergy, Clergy at Saudi, Sufis...??
I think with all this Islam is evolving and will help the world overall........
