ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Firstly I dont understand why our Generals start telling the truth after their retirement. Say ISI created Taliban to counter India why is it wrecking havoc in Pakistan instead? Does this statement point out to the utter failure of Pakistan’s Taliban policy? He wants Afghanistan to stop harboring terrorists and on the same token admits to have tried to undermine Karzai…Hypocrisy much?

ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian action against Pakistan: Musharraf - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

In the interview, Musharraf admitted that during his tenure as the head of state, Pakistan had tried to undermine the government of former Afghan president Hamid Karzai because Karzai had helped “India stab Pakistan in the back”.

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

This is like the fable of the simpleton who paid the fox to guard his chickens. This guy is plain dumb.

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

^ and the time period he has mentioned for creation of Taliban falls under his government.

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

He’s such an a$$ no matter what. If he’s true no then he was a cheat earlier or vice versa. First they do terrible things then they make it worse by endorsing the Indian/anti-pak version.

They say these things after retiring cuz they know they’ll not have to defend the country in any major forums either way

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

So the reason they are endorsing the "indian/anti-pak" version is not because it is the truth? Interesting..

Musharraf probably thinks he is very clever - double-dealing with Bush, collecting billions of dollars, and then using it to "cultivate" Taliban. Death to Umreeca? o yes sar.

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

He is saying this because what Durrani said. Its all politics. They are using each other to discredit the other and the media. Both him and General Durrani are blaming each other for this problem to make the other look better. This is a response to the Osama Bin Laden comment.

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Mushy is the most stupid Army general turned politician, i don't know if he is plain stupid and dumb or he is blackmailing Army to dance on his tune or he'll leak it on media..

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Only Mushy ?

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

You need to ask this question from the leader of the change, because when MUSHY was being dragged in the court and he was not been able to find any way out... he came out to help him out... and it caused Pakistan dearly...

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Read Mushy’s statement with the article published in an Indian newspaper. Musharraf’s statement does hold weight. ISI propped the Taliban and then pushed Karzai to cut a deal with them (our proxies)? This writer also believes that Pakistan agreed to help US take out OBL on the condition of being part of the end game in Afghanistan. But Karzai started putting roadblocks in that.

Two Pak generals, one Afghan endgame

Re: ISI cultivated Taliban to counter Indian Agression: Musharraf

Who had more right on deciding Afghanistan’s fate and “end game” - Karzai or Musharraf?

In any case, Ashraf Ghani seems to be able to interface more productively with Pakistan so far, and it is only possible with an agreement from Pakistan that Taliban will never be supported again. Question remains, is this enough to end the Taliban (and its variants) or are they now a permanent fixture in the tribal areas of both countries?
