chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Ahmed Shuja Pasha does not seem keen to get another extension in his service.**

extension? He should have resigned on May 2, 2011 after OBL tragedy. He was the one who told IK about memo, where stupid Ik trumpetted this in his Lahore meeting.
I sincerely hope that the Pasha is not given extension, as his career as ISI chief is filled with failures and blunders. Look at the endorsement he has got from the Americans. No wonder American interests are more important to Pasha as compared to Pakistan’s.http://www.dawn.com/2012/02/15/government-mulls-over-next-isi-chief.html
Government mulls over next ISI chief
**ISLAMABAD: The government mulls over assigning a new director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as its current chief Lt-Gen Shuja Pasha’s tenure ends on March 18, DawnNews reported on Wednesday.
**
**According to sources, the four names under consideration for the post are Maj-Gen Mohammad Asif, Maj-Gen Naushad Kiyani, Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam and Lt-Gen Javed Iqbal.
**
**Extending Pasha’s tenure is also on the cards, it added.
**
It is important to note that the tenure of the current DG ISI has been extended twice by the government.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will decide about the new intelligence chief after consultating military leadership.
**Earlier, US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter had shown his concern over the retirement of Pasha.
**
**Munter had said appointment of the new ISI chief can affect bilateral ties of the war allies.
**
On the other hand, the US embassy in a statement hoped to maintain good relations with the next ISI chief.

We all know the General's are in the pockets of the Americans.
They get their agents in the media to talk about how they are 'sticking up' to America, but reality is different.
Don't forget the last time an elected govt tried to replace the COAS - 9 years of the same COAS ruling.
Don't forget a couple months ago, the defence minister admitted the elected govt cannot control the ISI.
Don't forget what happend when the elected govt tried to move the ISI to the Interior Ministry.
Don't forget the history of Pakistan.
In other words Zardari is not responsible for anything. As always. Always responsible for the good stuff - stuff they have no control over - and never responsible for the bad stuff - which is directly related to them.
Are you talking about Maj-Gen ZaheerUl Islam who was plotted unsuccessful coup against Benazir in 1995
no he is in the prabables for the post of isi chief now, but pasha has made a strong comeback due to us support. i hope that the government does not give into pressure, they should get some one on merit. in all pashsa's time is marred by incompetency/inefficiency.
