KARACHI: The ISI officials on Thursday briefed the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on the number of political parties involved in Karachi unrest, DawnNews reported.

“Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Haqiqi (MQM-Haqiqi), Awami National Party (ANP), Sunni Tehreek (ST), Amman Committee and banned groups including Sipah-e-Sahaba, Sipah-e-Muhammad are involved in the Karachi unrest,” the ISI officials informed the chief justice.

According to sources the ISI officials briefed the chief justice and other judges in his (CJ’s) chamber whereas officials from IB were also present during the briefing.

Sources said that the CJ inquired the ISI if they had shared this information with the police and rangers on which the officials replied no.

The CJ ordered the ISI that all information should be shared with the police and rangers so that action can be taken against the accused to end the unrest in Karachi, sources said.

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

what ISI is waiting for? a massacre from religious and secular fanatics?

I think the law enforcement agencies should have criteria, that is, anyone who have killed a officer of any security force should be treated in worst possible manner, the killer and kidnaper of innocent persons should not be tolerated at all, doesn't matter if the killer belongs to any political party or have association with any political entity...

This way the criminals will fear the security forces and would think twice before attacking them or having them killed and at the same token, this will boost the confidence level of security officers...

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

The main culprits.
Who brought Altaf back in 1986, Arranged firing at last bus at Sohrab Goth
Arranged Saneh AliGarh Colony. People behind them .
Can CJ ask about them ?

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

Zia-ul-Haq and ISI of his time were father founder of this illegetimate criminal party and its illegetmate criminal leader. CJ should take suo moto action first on this then do anything after that. In past ISI does not carry good name, therefore its credability is also at stake.

All these "reports/briefings" will be thrown in gutter in matter of few days as soon as MQM agrees to join PPP government unconditionally.

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

You mean mard-e-momin?

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

Do you think Namard e murdem was alone.
All his fellows.
Law allows his court martial .

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

I think some one from PPP perhaps Rehman Malik has denied this. Anyway self proclaimed wing is not a part of main party, unless head of provincial or centeral leader claims that. Infact PPP does not has anywing like Kidmat-e-Khalq of mqm. Only ZM was supporting this committee but than whole PPP has disassociated with him. So I don’t buy that.

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

His followers - PNA?

Re: ISI briefs CJ on parties involved in Karachi unrest

PPP did not disassociate with ZM when he created Aman Committee, they didn't disassociate until he went crazy in public and threw allegations everyone around him (except Zardari of course), until that time Aman Committee was acceptable.

KARACHI: The hearing of the suo motu case on the killings in Karachi on Friday was adjourned till September 13, DawnNews reported.

The special bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, includes Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, Justice Amer Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.

During Friday’s hearing, Sindh Advocate General Fateh Malik told the court that 40 per cent of the police force had political affiliations. He added that 38 out of 44 cases have been registered.

Earlier, Chief Justice Iftikhar had criticised Sindh Advocate General, blaming him of not putting his heart into his job.

Speaking about problems faced by law enforcement agencies in the city, Inspector General Sindh Police Wajid Durrani said that cellular network companies and PTA did not cooperate with the police and often did not provide the police with the required data.

Adding to problems surrounding cellular phones and related networks, City Police Chief Saud Mirza said that mobile phones of Chinese brands were untraceable, and that customs authorities should be notified in this regard. Responding to which, Chief Justice Iftikhar said that thousands of shipping containers would not have been stolen if customs authorities were working properly.

Regarding other issues faced by police, Mr Durrani requested the court to order the State Bank of Pakistan to cooperate with police.

Moreover, on the orders of Chief Justice Iftikhar, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on Friday submitted a report before the court on the violence in Karachi.

Earlier during Thursday’s proceedings, Chief Justice Iftikhar had said that political parties appeared to have become militant outfits.

“Allegations and counter-allegations are levelled by political parties against each other. Criminal gangs have been formed in the parties and people have been made hostage,” the chief justice observed during the hearing.

After the hearing, the Inter-Services Intelligence briefed the bench on the Karachi situation in the presence of representatives of other intelligence agencies. Due to the sensitive nature of the matter, members of the bench received the briefing in the committee room.
