Isn't ishq different from pyaar, mohabbat in that it's a religious, intoxicating love? Like often in poetry between man and the almighty?
Some old timer was explaining sufi kalaam to me once and he was saying that if you look at the lyrics, they have like double meaning. For example "Meda ishq v toon, meda yaar v toon" could be about your beloved or about almighty.

I think Ishq is the name of a plant in Arabic like (Akas bail / Amarbail), which when surrounds a plant, it turn the flower into yellow.

In hindi poetry, it is called, chayavaad, in chayavad poetry it has both meaning of lover and of god :)

other is neend ka nasha, once human is high on neend ka nasha, he/she can fall anywhere and sleep :)

as i heard, its true that Ishq is Arabic word. not sure its a plant, may be you are right.
