India quick Ishant Sharma and Pakistan keeper Kamran Akmal have been fined for their altercation in the closing overs of the Pakistan innings in Bangalore on Tuesday. The players had been involved in a heated argument in the 18th over of the chase, which Pakistan eventually completed successfully to win the first Twenty20 by five wickets.
Both players were reported to the match referee, Roshan Mahanama, by the umpires - S Ravi, C Shamsuddin, TV umpire VA Kulkarni and fourth umpire K Srinath - and charged with ‘conduct contrary to the spirit to the game’. They both pleaded guilty, and Kamran was fined 5% of his match fee. Ishant, though, appealed against the penalty levied; after reviewing video footage and reiterating his view that Ishant had initiated the incident, Mahanama fined Ishant 15% of his fee.
Mahanama said with this series being so high profile, it became all the more important for the players to set the right example: "This is clearly a high profile and high-intensity series, and the players on both sides have been reminded of their responsibility. Both players recognised their duty to set the right type of example through their on-field behaviour and they have accepted that they fell short of the level of conduct required.
“The game was played in the true spirit till this incident was initiated by Ishant, who is an experienced cricketer.”
The incident occurred soon after Ishant had the well-set Shoaib Malik caught of a ball that was deemed too high to be legal. Earlier the same over, Ishant had claimed Pakistan’s other set batsman, Mohammad Hafeez. With the pressure building and a tight finish in view, Ishant beat Kamran and, after exchanging words in his follow-through, the two ended up standing inches apart from each other, yelling. Suresh Raina - followed by his India team-mates - came between the two, as did the umpires, but the talk continued for a while. When Ishant caught Kamran off Ashok Dinda in the next over, he was quite vocal in his celebration.
This series is a marquee one, as it revives bilateral ties between the neighbours. The previous one-on-one series between the teams was five years earlier, in late 2007, with bilateral ties hitting a roadblock following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

I don’t get it. What happened here?

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

Kamran complained about the No ball to the umpire when Malik was caught and Ishant was furious and he abused and it started

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

The ball before this one, malik was out caught. Kamran pointed out to the umpire that it was the second bouncer of the over and under the rules not allowed and therefore a no ball. The umpires corrected their decision and Malik was given not out. This infuriated Ishant and led to this confrontation.

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

See the difference between senior and newer players. When Afridi pretended to throw the ball at youvraj after the six, they both laughed it out like a good sportsmen. While these two....

Anyways, that added to the nature of indopak games.

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

I think only Ishant should have been fined because he initiated it, he tred his best to do cheating earlier he stopped hafeez way while running, cheaters

Re: Ishant, Kamran fined for argument in Bangalore T20

Ah I see. But there was no wrong decision. Fazool da ghussa. Come to think of it, didn’t he catch a ball later on in the game (or may be earlier)? And I remember him shouting something in anger after he caught the ball. Tub bhi gaaliyan he de raha hoga. :hehe: You have to wonder what goes on behind the scenes if they aren’t afraid to cuss each other out during a match.

KARACHI: Indian pacer Ishant Sharma and Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, who were fined after a verbal duel in the first T20 international at Bangalore, have buried the hatchet and are now the best of friends, according to a leading Pakistani newspaper.

‘The Express’ newspaper reported on Thursday that after the match, Sharma had gone to the Pakistan dressing room and sorted things out with Kamran.

**“Sharma went to the Pakistan dressing room after the match and addressing Kamran asked him ‘Paji Tauno Ki Hogaya See’ (Brother what happened to you),” the report said.

It said that Sharma had than clarified to Kamran that he had not used any abusive language against him during the standoff in Bangalore.

**“After that some senior players came in and sorted things out for both players who have now buried the incident,” the report said.

The report also said that afterwards when the teams travelled on a chartered flight from Bangalore to Ahmedabad, Kamran and Sharma were seen laughing and in good spirits.

Outside the field, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli and some of the other Indian players get along well with some of the Pakistani players and some players also had dinner together, the report said.

Ishant and Kamran got into the argument when the latter was declared not out after he was caught off a no ball by the former, and was beaten on the next ball.

Soon both the players exchanged a few angry words and wagged fingers at each other. Finally, the ground umpires and Indian players intervened and separated both of them.

Pakistan manager, Naved Akram Cheema said that despite the incident, the relation between the two teams is good and cordial.

“All the intensity is on the field as obviously they also want to win as do we. But otherwise relations are fine between the two sides and we have been very well looked after so far in India,” Cheema told Geo Super channel.

He also said that the security for the Pakistani players had been very good and they had been very well received and shown hospitality in Bangalore.

“The players are thoroughly enjoying their tour of India and the win in the first match has further lifted their spirits,” he said.****
