I searched all the results pointed to the fact that it is Haram…

Lays, Cheetos and a bulk of huge things which we consider normal to eat have whey in them…

Any clue?

Rennet is used to curd the milk. Whey should be avoided because the rennet used to curd the milk could be from a haram or non-Zabihah animal.

I remember I researched on it long time ago, but can't remember what exactly I found. However, my conclusions led me to consume whey because it comes from milk.
