Is wheat sacred?

I’ve seen amongst a lot of desis that they treat bread, roti etc. as almost sacred, like they will never throw it in the bin, all left over is always fed to the birds at the park.

The reason isn’t because food shouldn’t be wasted (obviously it shouldn’t be) but because they say wheat is ‘jannat ka mewa’ and it’s disrespectful to throw it in the bin.

Does this have any basis in Ahadeeth?

no, i think it comes under the general rule of "dont waste the rizq" and since wheat is the staple diet of the sub-continent, perhpas it got over-stressed....

Salaam Alaykum,

Thanks, ok I thought so too.

Somebody had told me that it was the forbidden fruit of Paradise which Bawa Adam (alayhis salaam) and Amma Hawwa (alayhas salaam) had broke into two and one ate one half and the other the other half and that’s why wheat grains have a line down them… I should have known though it would just be balooney…
