I think his delivery to Mike Gatting is bit overrated simply because i have seen lots of better deliveries in past few years, Ashley Giles dismissed martyn yesterday in pretty much same way, it didn’t turn that much but it was exactly the similar delivery and i have seen lots and lots of other deliveries as well…What made his delivery so special???

What made it so special was that it came from a gora....Some of the balls that Imran and Waqar have bowled, particularly the one by Imran to dismiss Viswanath...that too for a fast bowler to cut the ball that much is a greater spectacle then for a spinner to turn the ball....

Even Wikipedia calls it Waqar's best balls he ever bowled

I'm certain warni has admitted that, his 'ball of the century' @ old trafford to mike gatting was a fluke. Anyhow even if it wasn't, Waqar Younis for one has bowled many jaffas' in his career, one being the infamous banana ball. But sadly gori chamri kaam aa jati hai at the best of times.

waqar bowled thrope in 2nd test in england in 2001, it was a great delivery...
wasim bowled dravid in 1999 when pak. toured india...
i think the delivery which was bowled by wasim was one of the
best of wasim deliveries...
and ofcourse warne's (gora chamri) delivery was great.... but overrated

Yes I have seen that delivery Wasim bowled Dravid with a number of times…The ball prior to it Wasim pitched the ball right on the middle stump and the ball came into Dravid, clearly hitting his pad first (going on to hit middle stump) and then his glove, the dip$hit typical cheating a$$ indian umpire ruled it not out…the next delivery Wasim pitched it on the same spot and Dravid expected it to come into him again, but only this time it moved away and clipped his off stump

for that day it mustve been pretty amazing to witness. but hes done the same thing again on a few recent occasions, and better! personally, i think Waqar Younis' inswing toe crushers that he used to bowl, especialy during the 1992 post world cup tour of england are some of the greatest ever.

Guys, give the credit where it's due. The Gatting ball was great, and Warne is a great bowler. I haven't seen a spinner except Murali turn the ball as much as Warne does. What gives him an edge is his control. Leg spin is a very difficult art to master and Warne is perhaps the greatest exponent of it. And this does not take anything away from the absolute gems that Imran, Akram, and Waqar used to bowl.

if you are talking about the calcutta test match where wasim got two wickets in his first over … then go and check agin … the lbw ball was a official no ball …
any ways wasim is the best … no one comes close to him …

It is not just called the ball of century because of that particular delivery but as critics have written and commented over the years, that it gave birth to a star who is to shine for long. It was his very first delivery of his career and that too, impressive enough for all major sports newspapers to make it a headline. Today, Warne stands as the leading wicket-taker and capturing most wickets ever. Not to say that he wouldn've have done it without that ball but it just started Warne-era which is still not finished.

i think instead of declaring warne's ball as the delievery of century we should have wasim akram's ball that he delievered in world cup 1992 or waqar younis yorkers or shoaib akhter making tendulkar remeber the golden duck. warnes ball has been done by other bowlers also after his delievery
