oh wow, that sucks! URGH actually that makes me cringe…cuz i HATE when people just assume all of south asia is just hindi speaking or indians…
in fact…i wrote a big essay of an email to the Food Network Channel and told them to stop reffering as food with paprika in it as INDIAN food, I was like Hellloooooooooo, there are around 12 countires in South Asia, the main desi or close to “indians” being Indians themselves, pakistani’s, bengali’s & Sri lankens…and THEY ALL USE PAPRIKA! I mean you know…garam masala, red chilli powder etc…
so I would say yes it is considered the same but I dont think thats how it should me IMO

^ well all of you (Pakistan, BD, Sri Lanka) came from India and Indian culture - so what is wrong referring to the cuisine as Indian? Not enough time and separate development has occurred for Pakistan and BD to have or be known markedly differenr. Sri Lanka I think is different enough in some respects but they do have a lot of commonality with Bengali, keralite and Tamil cultures and cuisines.

right...that indian advertising thing in mu opinion is bull****, i mean if you dont belive in your own country, why should anyone else?

That tells you why the Indian and Pakistani economies cannot be compared. The list that you (Maria) provided takes a country’s GDP and divides it by its population. So obviously you have India (and Pakistan) languishing in such a list. If you take a close look China also comes up only at 99. But in absolute terms China’s economy is second only to the U.S.

I LOATHE IT WHEN PEOPLE CANT DISTINGUISH BETWEEN HINDI AND URDU ,OUR (URDU)LITERATURE IS LAVISHLY RICH AND SOPHISTICATED ITS THE LANGUAGE OF POETS .

You can hardly call Bollywood movies as Urdu movies. There may be a few phrases or song lyrics in Urdu, but the overwhelming in use language is undoubtedly Hindi. In many cases it is sanskritised hindi. If you actually show a pakistani drama to a hindi speaking person he will understand what is going on but he is sure to miss the nuances. When you refer to Urdu speaking populace you should refrain yourself to those who consider Urdu their primary language.
In India an approximate 60 Million people use Urdu as their 1st language.
I have no idea how you landed up with the figure of 100 mil expat people from the only the gulf who speak urdu. I am sure you must be having some data to back up your claims which you would be willing to share with us.
Anyone who left the subcontinent of Indo/Pak/Bangladesh and went anywhere on Earth is being counted as Expatriot…not just those who went to Mid East alone…Right?
Isnt real Hindi different to Hindi that is in movies. i have seen many people speaking PURE HINDI and that is totally different and hard to understand. People of Fiji, also speak HINDI but their is different as well.
so one cant say that Urdu is dialect of Hindi.
