18 shias were pulled off a bus and executed yesterday. did it really take a protest against the cricket team to spark this realization about intolerance?
What happened in Gilgit can still be related to this incidence of protest over a game of sport since the basic factor in both the incidents is still intolerance. Whether it was for a defeat or for a cause, however trivial and disgusting, the spark came from intolerance.
nikhil25 you may not buy it, but Gilgit may not be as simple a case of religious intolerance as it may look to you. We have lots of 'freinds' working for us round the clock to keep us awake.
Did you see Misbah play? I had a ***** fit over that match.
Yes CM, I saw him playing which was a terrible experience. But it is still a game. I can bet that we would be eulogizing him again as soon as we win the next game under him.
Buddy.. your logical (illogical rather) reasoning has a simple basic flaw... you are trying to justify some of the wrongs committed by our society members with some other wrongs committed elsewhere is the world by someone else..
Yazdi since Amal changed his posts and his compliant, my posts do not seem relevant. However the point is very simple. You guys back off as soon as I show you the same happens in Europe of the US. Its amazing really. No accepting yes this happens in the West. Yes we were acting like Indian soap opera drama queens.
No its all now two wrongs don’t make a right. However the beauty of it is that I didn’t say they make it right. I merely asked you questions. Would you call German, Swiss, British society intolerant based on the videos I posted?
@CM: are you seriously suggesting that Pakistan is as tolerant or intolerant a society as Britain? instead of nitpicking, how about you acknowledge that bigotry and intolerance has been increasing for the past 40 odd years and manifests itself in various forms.
The thing with CM is that he likes attention too much. Add a sense of being always right and a perception of owning the country, and you're all set.
We kill our ''brother'' muslims and Pakistanis only because they think differently . . . well losing a cricket match at least deserves a protest . . . isn't it :D

Its amazing its nitpicking yet you lot don't care about: Involuntary detention, rendition, war crimes, detention for practicing of freedom of speech. No that doesn't happen.
That amazing part out of all of this is that none of you ever get your panties in a bunch over any of this stuff. You always ***** about Pakistan yet nothing about the west. Hypocrisy thy name is you.

what is the problem ? these things happen in west too. when muslims do something there is problem ?

CM my concerns are still very much there and nothing has alleviated them. Something that happens elsewhere is no yardstick for us to change the ways we live by. We cannot sell liquor like colas just because it is so sold in the West.
Let me come back to my question, does a sport defeat warrant street protests?
Does it warrant it? Absolutely not. But does that mean its intolerant to do so? Nope. People need to let out the frustration that builds up and the constant negativity that Pakistanis protray about their nation adds to that notion so they act out. That is why I gave the example of the Greek Protests. Are these people uneducated jahils? Nope. They are mainly blue and a good many white collar workers who are now out fighting with police, burning property and causing havoc to what they see as injustice. Does that make all of Greek society intolerant? Nope.

Greece is facing a do-or-die situation and their protest cannot be compared with what we are discussing here in this thread. Greek austarity drive will cut around 7 billion euros and you can imagine that there would hardly by any walk of Greek life unhit by this cut. 20,000 civil servants will lose their jobs and over 2000 schools will be shut. 75% pensioners will cease while the 25% pensions will be halved.
Anyway, I believe sutdents of one of the most prestigious institutions should have behaved in the face of a cricket defeat and should have not acted like an ordinary, uneducated person (no offence to them). Your opinion is different than mine and though I respect your opinion, please allow me to differ with it :)

And this is what I mean about making excuses for white people or the West. How is it different when people burn buildings? The reasons for the burning does not change the fact that arson was committed. And the rule of law does not care why the rules were broken. Just that they were.
Just like football hooliganism, fighting in rugby or american football. It happens everywhere. You are welcome to your view but then again double standards are something very few people accept these days.

Have you ever heard, “sabar ki inteha hoti hay”? This phenomenon is not only applicable to Pakistan but every where. The extreme incidences were exploding nuclear device in Japan, exploding nepalm bombs in North Veitnam, ethinic cleansing in Bosnia, using crator bombs in Afghanistan, killing innocent people by Taliban through suicidal bombings and by Pakistan army, killing of innocent people by drones, killings, killings, killings…Can you name any nation which is tolerant now? Powerful nations/people now think that Might is Right, this is what happens every where in the world.
no earlier it was not empty
reading some enlightened genius posters makes upper chamber empty .
