Is this too good to be true?

Check out

Calls to Pakistan are 3 cents per min (49 cents per call). 99 cents per month service charge. If someone calls for 5 mins to Pak, they will pay approx 13 cents per minute. It is powered by Net2Phone. It can be used from any phone (cellphone too), as they send you a card which you can use anywhere. For your own phones, you can set it for No-PIN dialing. No contract required.

Whats the catch here? Has anyone tried it?

I already get like 18 cents per call from a regular card.. no connection fee.. no hidden charges.. just a 69cent weekly fee.. no call drops and great reception..

with net2phone the quality of the connection could be dubious and with a connection fee everything you reconnect.. it may even out your savings..

well tried a new card.. supposedly gives 12cents a minute! .. although it is only achieved if you use it for multiple calls.. i tried one full stretch call and it only gave around 17 cents/min :(

Well, I got this Pennytalk thingy now. And we called to Pakistan yesterday. The voice quality was perfect... just as a regular phone call is. And I think we talked for about 15 minutes... Total cost $0.92. It came to about $0.06 per minute. Its great! :)

Nice mathematics lol

hain?? i went to their website and under the Rates section it's $0.290 to Pakistan.. that's like 29 cents right?? how did you arrive at that 6 cents per minute??

Interesting stuff Faisal. Let me know how it works out for you after a couple of calls and I might just sign up for it.

Well, its interesting alright. As BabaG pointed out, the rate to Pakistan is $0.29 and not $0.029 cents as I originally read it :smack2:

So, its nothing more than a calling card, with the added nuisance of 49 cents connection charges. Although rates to some other countries are pretty good.. like Canada, UK and Australia. I guess I will keep this just to call Canada from my cell phone. From home, I already get 31 cents/min with no connection fees, so might as well stick to that.

hmmm interesting. Are you using AT&T or SBC long distance?
