Is this the correct usage?

Apple is widely considered the most valuable company in the world. Why? Because it has the largest market capitalization. In other words if you were to buy the entire company at the market price, you would shell out $600 billion.

Question is - does this not make Apple the most expensive company as opposed to most valuable?

Other " most valuable" companies from the past - Intel Microsoft cicso ge. In hindsight they were the most expensive, since their market cap is on average 20-40% of peak value.

Which company in your mind is the most valuable? And what is your criterion to assign value?

Am not a finance pro, but isnt asset-liability ratio a better way rather than just seeing the value of the shares?

Re: Is this the correct usage?

Yes. Typically they use debt to asset or debt to equity as one metric.

Re: Is this the correct usage?

southie, here is the thing most valuable companies are not driven to make them selves into giants.
They value value in very different way.

Perhaps making your self too strong too big is way to get your hands on where they should not be.
