Is www.authenticstyles.com a safe site to put credit card information on AND receive authentic merchandise???..question especially for anyone who has used it. Apparently it’s been in existence for 5 years thus far.
they have certification, but looks like a 3rd class one. stay away.the design looks cheasy too. if it was a good business theyd spend money on the design.

Hmm? What did your friend mean exactly irem?
Damn, I just read the above about 10 minutes after buying some books from Amazon.
No credit card any where........
irem, u mean people trying to buy stuff are using fradified cards right? caus i think some guppies misunderstood.or is it me?
I have a prof in security who changes his credit cards every six moths not neccessarily because it may be used but he looks at it from the point of view the way the information is stored. What was considered a most secure site five years ago can easily be broken into today and hence people who got information 5 yrs ago may now be able to decode and use if those credit cards are still valid.
changes his credit card every six months? woahie. paranoid to the max. wouldnt his info be spread further by changin cards so often?

After a certain period - i think five years- the accounts are generally deleted. And the non essential stuff gets deleted earlier on. Around five years I once heard is also the time that old security algorithims can be broken by normal everyday computers.
ugly website
ugly handbags
REJECT!
^ Ditto..
i suggest buy somewhere else, or if you have to pay by other means..!!!
Safe: Yes, from technical perspective since the credit card information is encrypted on this site; just like Amazon or any other e.Commerce site.
Authentic: Not sure, call them and check out for yourself after speaking with customer service.
Just some info regarding credit card use on the net, if someone uses yur credit card fraudulently both u and the merchant are insured against any unlawful transactions, so no need to worry.

Re: is this site safe?..
For most Web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, a secure, encrypted session will be indicated by a closed padlock or an unbroken key icon that appears in the lower left or right hand corner of the browser window. You may also check the address bar of your browser. If the Web site address starts with “https://” rather than the standard “http://” then the session is secured.
If a secure session is established and the information is encrypted during transmission, then others will not be able to view your information. However, you should be aware that some Web browsers will store information on your computer even after you are finished conducting your online activities, this is called caching. Therefore, you should close your browser once you are finished using the Internet, particularly if you visit secure sites to conduct financial transactions, check account balances or view any other information that you regard as private and confidential.
Amazon is most reliable site for purchase. The fraud in their sense is the public trying to purchase through stolen credit cards. Amazon dont do fraud its 30% of their customers who try to use someone's card etc etc. But still its not possible because u need to give address to receive the shipment so in either case fraudsters are caught.
The best way to check is to check if the site offer https instead of http when u enter credit card information. Also check what certificate they are using.
If u are paranoid about security then dont buy online, buy from shop by paying cash. Make sure u dont use ATM, get cash from the bank counter by signing a cheque, dont hand over ur Bank Card to Cashier.
Good luck.
