Is this really such a bright idea?

A 90-yr old woman was unable to make her mortgage payments. Bank foreclosed her home. Sherrif’s deputies arrived and tried to evict her. She shot herself trying to commit suicide. Horrible. Horrible. Then, some blokes at Fannie Mae heard about it, and amongst all the doom and gloom around the mortgage crisis and economic crisis, decided to be the Prince Charming. Fannie Mae wrote off her loan and decided to give the woman her home outright.

Errr…

I don’t doubt the sincerity of the gesture, but seriously, is that a good idea. Do we really want Americans to start shooting themselves to get their home loans written off?
