Is this our war or not?

Re: Is this our war or not?

Our strategy of supporting Taliban started from 90s. Pakistan was one of few countries (others, Saudi and UAE) who recognized Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Post 9/11, we did the right thing to change the strategy but by that time it was too late to make people realize that we were on the wrong side of Afghan civil war. Support for Taliban was present from top to bottom in all echelons of society.

What we should have done after 9/11 was to make it a crime to support Taliban by action or by words. But it probably was impossible due to above.

In other words, I don’t think we could have done any better than what we managed to do at that time.

However, now is the time to implement the strategy of criminalizing support to Taliban because people now understand what monsters they are. But again, that is not possible because such a law will make the two most popular parties, PTI and PMLN, criminals themselves.
