my dad has a court case, ( i mentioned it a while back here) and the case was dropped, due to the claimant ( my dad was defendant) not abiding by the courts rules…it was an insurance case, my dad was 1st def, and his insurance company the 2nd def, anyway althought case dropped, when my dads car was written off in 2007, he was given a courtesy car, for which now the main insurers the 2nd def, apparently paid then, but not now, and the company that my dad hired car from is now suing for 954 pounds…he only had the car for 3 days…how did it accumlate to that much, plus on what grounds can they take the money…i dnt get it.surely if the case is dropped, why does my dad need to now pay for the hire purchase…
Re: is this legal?
Only the company who is suing can tell you or court as to why it is 954 pound . My magic ball ran out of battery so I cannot help you sorry.
Re: is this legal?
it may be interest charges that have added up since the bill was first sent, along with their "administrative fees"....they have fees for everything!

**yes, Saima Ji seems to be right. the interest rates are outragous and they do it for only one purpose...to settle out of court. they will happily drop, say 2/3 of the interest, and may ask only a small amount to pay...like 200 pounds or less. this is the leverage they use against u to get their money.
also, the amount may be high due to the deductable ur dad may have which is supposed to be paid by the vehicle owner in case the accident was his fault. ur dad may call the claimant and ask for itemized detail of the amount.**
