My friend from high school the other day was telling me how she was receiving these weird e-mails from someone and it freaked her out and what not. So she contacted the police and they were able to trace down where the e-mails were coming from. It turned out to be on the laptop of her ex. What a loser he is. Anyway, I was just wondering, is that even possible? How can they trace the e-mail back to a laptop?
What other organizations or companies can trace back e-mails once they have been sent? How is that feasible?
^^ Haha why in the world would I give him trouble? I would NEVER do that. No I didn't do anything. I just didn't believe her. I mean from a laptop? And that too an e-mail that was sent like 3 days ago?!
every time u open up ur mail, there are numbers on the top. one of those numbers is the IP number. every net user has a seperate IP number. u couldve done this on your own as well since there are plenty of websites which tell who uses which connection and from where.
