ive had enough of fad diets and cuting out food groups diets. i want to lose weight normally and steadily this time. and ive tried so many things nothing works, i end up stuffing my face in the evenings.
anyway, what i have tried is this,
having fruit for breakfas and dinner. lunch being anything made for lunch-roti salan, chawal, etc. just a normal plate full.
it should be below 1500 caloriea a day right, and il lose weight??
hthis seems to curb my appetite and i feel ok during the day, il have fruit, milk maybe 3 or 4 almonds, raw veg, water etc if hungry.
?? what do u guys reckon>hopefully you wont knock it as it seems to be working for me :
You don't have to give up your regular meals and replace them with fruits in order to lose weight. If I were you, I would eat smaller portions, eat fruits as snacks, and establish some kind of workout routine.
Hey nadz if it works, then go for it! What most ppl dont' realize is that not every diet will work for everyone... for example, I've seen so many recommendations for eating 5-6 small meals a day but that just doesn't work for everyone! As long as you're gettin ga reasonable amount of calories, and you're eating healthy foods too, and not taking pills...it should be ok.

If its working for you, that's great. I've seen one of my doctor friends' suggesting that if someone wants to reduce, keep the same type of food, just divide it by two. For example, if normally you eat one paratha in the morning, eat half - instead of 2 bread pieces, eat one ...etc I cannot try that though so not sure how effective it is.
The justification behind eating 5-6 small meals is to curb your hunger. The point is if you're eating 3 meals and 2/3 snacks in between you should never feel hungry and therefore you will eat less. It depends on your personal eating habits but for a lot of people by the time they eat dinner or lunch or whatever, they're quite hungry and therefore will overeat.
Nadz if you really want to lose weight steadily and be able to maintain it you'll have to make more of a lifestyle change. Small things can make a difference like switching to 1% milk, whole grains, etc. Breakfast should actually be your biggest meal of the day; make sure you're eating a well balanced breakfast with proteins, carbs and veggies/fruits. All your meals should follow this rule and dinner should actually be your lightest meal. If you're still stuffing your face for dinner it might just be a discipline thing, learn to know what your body actually needs vs. what it wants. Your meal should be 1500 calories or less of useful calories i.e if you're eating a packet of chips which is only 100 calories vs say a banana your body will crave nutrition so make sure you're eating the right foods as opposed to just restricting your calories.
Also exercise is critical in losing weight, so you have to have both.
