What do you think ? getting the thread off with the nail is a ball tempering ?
Lets say you are a match refree and sees this video/pic during the match, will you punish the bowler ?

Well it depends on if you are holding the ball that way or actually making your finger go back and forward in that direction with your nail pointing towards the thread, than yes it is ball tempering.

well the picture is inconclusive, what you need to see in a video is whether the player was cleaning the dirt or lifting the seam. If the latter than it is ball tampering.
A Pakistani bowler holding the ball is ball tampering to you I guess…
Ball tempering is when you take the coke bottle 'dhakun' and with that erode the ball with it ... the English are the masters in that art.

I just can't simply tell from the 2 pics provided.
The solid prove has to be a video.
I saw the match where Waqar Younis was accused of ball tempering and had a chance to watch the tape and it proved that he wasn't actually doing anything.
Does anybody know if he was punished or not ?
As for the one with Sachin. I didn't watch the match or the video so its impossible to tell if he is actually scrubbing the seam off.

No, not to me, to ICC - Waqar was suspended and fined for ball tempering on the basis of above picture and a Video.
I will never believe Waqar doing any such thing. My post was just to show mirror to the initiator of this thread

^ I think almost every bowler... or fast bowler... sometime in his career has tampered with the ball. its just a matter of being caught or not...
