Is there justice in this world?

Is there justice in this world?
What is your experience? And what do you think?

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Yes sort of ... experience of what? Think of what?

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Do you think you do justice with others? If yes then there is justice. We all, as an individual, have this duty to do justice with one another but we mostly fail becuase we are human beings & human beings are not perfect.

Yes, I think there is justice in this world but sometimes we have to raise our voice.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Some of us might have a nature good enough to think of justice. But there are others who don't.
Now I would have been satisfied if those who do injustice to others were unsuccessful. However my experience is different.
And it saddens me to say this.

That is true. Because only we can help ourselves.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

"Sort of" is a good in-between answer. :)

I wanted to see what people think about it. My father certainly thinks that there is justice. He tells of a story when he traveled in a bus between Hyd and Karachi. A young kid got in the bus trying to sell some merchandise. The bus owner was also present and he became so angry that he gave the boy a slap. The kid looked at him with hurt in his eyes and stepped outside. Everyone in the bus felt the boy's pain, well ... at least my father did.
The bus went along its route. But later it was pulled over for some reason by a highway cop. The cop was talking to the driver when the bus owner, the same guy who had slapped the kid, went to the cop to see what was happening. The cop got upset due to his interference and ... gave HIM a slap on his face.
My father was delighted to see that. He thought of it as justice to the boy who got a slap for no reason from that bus owner.

Nice happy ending. I liked the lesson myself. But unfortunately, I don't see many such happy endings. :(

Re: Is there justice in this world?

In a sense even religion agrees that there is no justice in this world. Hence the creation of heaven/hell and rewards/punishment.
If there was justice in this world then why would God let young Afghan children being killed by a racist barbaric Amreekan?! They were killed in such a young age while their killer is still alive, and probably will get away with their murder.

So there is no justice to those children in this world. Only hope is reward to them and punishment to that murderer after death.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

If everyone agrees that there is no justice in this world then I would advice people to not listen when someone says: "sub acchha ho jaaye ga", or "ghuroor ka sar neecha" etc.
This is sound advice for those starting their life. You have to fight for your own rights. If injustice has been done to you then no one can make things better but you yourself. Not even God has said that He will do justice to you in this world.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

^^^ No, there is no justice in this world. If justice was meant for this world then this world would not have been ‘world of trials’.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

As far as I believe, Sa1eem is correct.

There is no absolute justice in this world and our faith also dictates that we should not look forward to absolute justice in this life. The complete justice will be done on the day of judgement by the absolute Almighty judge.

There is a reason you can only punish a person of murdering more than one persons only once. And this also does not make the murdered person return back to life.

But we are nonetheless required to do justice with each other within the limitations of this world and our human capacity.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

^^^ Brother, you are right. There is no absolute justice in this world. Rather, whatever justice we see in this world, it is nothing other than illusion. This was necessary as this world is place of trial and tribulation. As for accountability and justice, that is reserved for judgment day.

Just imagine that if there was justice in this world, then all would have got their rewards and punishment in this world, and there would have been no need for judgment day neither requirement of heaven and hell.

Actually, it is illusive belief of kuffars and sinners that this world is place of justice too. According to these people, what one gets in this world is what one deserves. Thus for them, there should be no accountability after death.

But they are wrong, as this world is full of injustices and tribulations. On the other hand, judgement day is day of accountability for all those injustices and tribulations in this world.

Warning from Allah to those who think, people get what they deserve ... and thus justice is in this world:

Quran 29:4 ... Do those who practise evil think that they will escape Us? Evil is their judgment!

Allah telling people that accountability is on judgment day:

Quran 3:30 ... "On the Day when every soul will be confronted with all the good it has done, and all the evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself. And Allah is full of kindness to those that serve Him."

Quran 88:25-26 ... Surely to us will be their return; Then it will be for us to call them to account.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

so what of a man that has sinned (i.e. murdered another man) and has received the punishment as laid out by sharia.....execution.
is his justice complete or can he still look forward to the fires of hell?

Re: Is there justice in this world?

No Idea.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Since we are not the judge, we can not say anything in this regard. This is Allah's perorgative. What we can, however, understand from Islam is following according to my little knowledge gained from various sources:

Every person will be judged on case-to-case basis and the fact that Allah has created every person with different and varying capacities. Everyone will be judged on the criteria according to their make. Having said that, there may be many factors in understanding if a person received the punishment in this world would suffice. The case in which a murderer may be pardoned is when he killed a person but was guided in his life later and repented to Allah with whole heartedness. He then still gets the punishment of death given that Qisas was not offered by the victim's family. For such a person, Allah will become the witness in the life hearafter and will forgive him with His mercy. If the person never repented nor felt that he did the wrong thing then, he may face the punishment in the next eternal life but he may be saved due to any other reason/good deed that will save him. Only Allah can do the absolute justice in this matter. We can not ever think of it. As I said in the beginning, it really will be individual and case-to-case scenario.

What we should pray is that we get Allah's mercy on that day and not the accountability for I read a hadith which states something to the effect that whoever will be held for the accountablility will surely be the loser. And the actual losers are the losers of eternal life; not of this life.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Interesting question.

Some food for thought think about the list of questions below.
Who created the Justice System?
Who defines crime and it's penalty ?
Who is the one making allegations/defense ?
Who is giving the verdict ?
The point I'm trying to make is, it's a man made system and only purpose it serves is to bring order to this world.

The thing your dad is referring to is called Karma and it definitely exists. There have been number of occasions where I have helped someone and in turn somebody else was helpful to me in sticky situations.

Where as Muslim our belief is every deed is written down and every soul will be held accountable for their deeds on the day of judgment. So to expect that all your sins will wash away by judicial system is not accurate.

So to answer you question in a nutshell, no there is no justice in this world. True justice can only be done by Allah.

Re: Is there justice in this world?

Sorry for delay in reply.

From what I know and understand this subject: All punishments in this world are punishment with three purposes.

1: Deterrent for future perpetrators (criminals)
2: Consolation and compensation for Victim’s family, relatives, and friends.
3: Acquiring of rewards for crime perpetrated

Everything we do in this world, from thoughts to actions, it get judged by Allah and we get rewards or sins for that. As for punishments, we get rewards for that according to the level of sufferings in punishment.

On the other hand, separate from rewards to perpetrator for punishment, perpetrator gets sins for the crime he committed. On judgement day, to overcome those sins, perpetrator would have to compensate victims of his crime from awards perpetrator earned in this world. If perpetrator would not have enough rewards then he would take away victims burden of sins on his head.

In case of murder, sins are towards three parties.

First party is Allah and sin is huquq-ul-Allah.
Other two parties are victim and victim’s associates, and sin related to them comes in huquq-ul-Ibad.

If victim gets punished or pays blood-money to get forgiven, then rewards for punishment (or payment of blood-money) may compensate sin related to huquq-ul-Allah and part of sins related to huquq-ul-Ibad of victim’s family. Perpetrator would still have to compensate his victim (person he killed) on judgment day.
