Re: Is there anyone who has passed the GAT (GENERAL) Test of NTS for MS.
I passed it last year. I prepared from the GAT test guide (you can get the book from any nearest book store). You can also study from the GRE helping books. The test comprises of three parts; Verbal (English language), Quantitative and Analytical. The distribution of marks for these three parts depends on the category for your study.
Verbal ability is mostly easy with comprehensions, synonyms, choosing the appropriate words, meanings etc.
Quantitative ability is all mathematics from geometry to algebra to simple calculations like division. You need to have the basic understanding of these concepts. Its very simple but needs a lot of consideration. When you see the question it seems like there will be alot of calculation to reach the answer but actually just a lil multiply add and subtract gets it done. Its all about focus in this part.
Analytical ability is actually a tricky one. Its all about logic! Scenarios are given and then some twists are made in each question related to a scenario, mostly questions are about who comes first? who is last? who comes after who? What ends the scenario? etc. You need to test and try every possibility of a particular scenario, then apply the rules given and check which one fits best. Needs a huge level of concentration.
The suggestion I would give you from my personal experience is, don't waste time on questions that are taking you more than 40-50 secs. Leave them and move on to the next question. At the end, go through the questions again one by one to solve those that are left. The key is to manage the time well. You lose track of time and your'e doomed. Best of luck!

salam hadeel. I bought a book of BARRONS but that is very complex. then i bought the NTS suggested book, written by DOGARS. I followed that but i couldn't understand that what is written and how to attempt these methatmatical question and general question. English section was little understanding to me but not the others. I am very confuse that what to do with this.

Yeah I studied from the Dogars edition too. Before solving the quantitative exercises, you need to spend time on the little chapters about every concept, like start with ratios then algebra and so on. Go through the chapters, understand the concepts and tricks given in the little notes and solve the examples given. I know it will take a lil time to take it all in because some of us are no longer in touch with basic mathematics by the time we reach the masters level. But you need to start studying! After you've completed the examples, you can move on to the exercises. Trust me every question in those exercises is from the chapter that discusses the topic. Sometimes a question makes use of 3-4 concepts related to a particular topic. You just need to concentrate.
About the Analytical section, go through that when you have a free mind. A mind ready to have some tricky fun, really!! If you can't figure out the questions at all, you can look in the answer guide and then work your way through the bottom up approach. Move from the answer to the question. Will help you figure out how its done.
And if nothing works, buy yourself the answer guide and get help from there. Although I won't suggest that because then you really won't be understanding the concepts, you'll be merely answering questions and that will be a problem when you are sitting in the exam hall. =)
