mmmmm...very nice thinkin of importing cars....But the duty or custom is way to high... for cars...i believe its 150 percent.....so its not such a cool business...unless you could import from dubai to Afghnistan...and if you have connectionsss....you could get the cars from Afghanistan...

This is a good business these days, you can get second hand like new cars from japan for as low as 4000$[1300 cc] ...then the custom's and shipping ..put 4000$ more.. it should be ..like 500000 ... sell it for 800000... .:)

Khan009,
You’re misinformed. The duties are not 150%. The duty structure stands at 100%, with 2% deducted for every month since the car’s manufacture, upto a maximum 50% discount. In the near future these numbers will go down. See here for proposed duty
Ex: A January 2006 Car with a MSRP of 20,000USD when it was made.
January-November 2006 = 11 Months. 11x2% = 22%.
20,000 - 22% = 16393.00
Cars upto 5 years old are allowed for import. To make money, there is a bit of tweaking. 25 months would mean 50% off, the greatest sum allowed. Also, when calculating duty, the car’s current price does not matter. Rather the car’s original invoice price does. Whatever the car cost when new is what they’ll use.
Ofcourse, there are ways around that. For instance you can take a fully loaded car, and claim it’s a base model for a lower appraisal. There are ways to do that, although unethical.
The duty structure : FBR| Federal Board of Revenue - Government of Pakistan
