Is there any reality in palm reading?

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

If it isn’t that clear to you. You can ask God on the Day of Judgement

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Yes. But the question is, why should i leave something which is intriguing and interesting and according to scientific method?

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Science proved palm reading is true?

Lots of things are intriguing and interesting. Submission comes before all those. (for muslims).

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

So we should stop reading genes then as well. No ultrasound, no genetics, no forensic science...

Submitt to what? lack of knowledge?

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Genes don’t necessarily have to be 100% true. They can be altered.
Ultra sound is not always correct.

True knowledge of things lie with Allah swt.

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Why should I believe Bukhari? He is no more purveyor of truth than anyone else. No Crescent, your post is non-sense.

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Its ok. If you didn’t want to have a rational discussion, you should have told me from the start.

Bachay log, sheesh.

Re: Is there any reality in palm reading?

Ultimate knowledge is with God and is from God. If we are to submitt, why dont we just stop reading and researching and just submitt. No need to make new discoveries, no need to unlock the genetic code or to find better ways to diagnose diseases.

Question:
Assalamo alaykum, Could you please shed some light, as to why Muslims should not visit palm readers and believe in them. Also, what are the harms associated with it. Why is it prohibited in Islam. Please provide an answer in the light of Quran and Sunnah. Jazakumullahu khairan WasSalaam, Sadiyah

Answered by Sheikh `Abd al-Rahmân al-Barrâk

All praise is due to Allah. It is unlawful to deal with the zodiac or anything related to the birth or future of people. It is equally unlawful to go to astrologers, fortunetellers, soothsayers, palm readers, or tarot card readers or any similar practitioners. In fact, this is fortune telling which is a pretence for knowing the Unseen as well as an act of magic. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever takes a share of fortunetelling takes a share of magic and more for more of it.” A Muslim may not go to fortune tellers to ask them for anything and may not believe them. He may not learn their ways and their craft. In fact, they are magicians and diviners. They are liars who may tell the truth sometimes. They are using unlawful methods to collect people’s money while at the same time misguiding them with false claims. They are spreading mischief and they should be punished and resisted as much as possible.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said in an authentic hadîth: “He who visits a fortune teller and asks him about anything, his prayers extending to forty nights will not be accepted. [Sahîh Muslim (2230)]
In another hadîth, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who visits a diviner or a fortune teller and believes of what he tells he will be disbelieving in what was sent to Muhammad (peace be upon him).” [Related by Ahmad (9171)
The men of the line of transmission of this second hadîth are trustful. However , Khallâs b. Umr al-Hajrî, did not hear from Abû Hurayrah. This is evidence that visiting diviners and believing them in their claim that they know the unseen is disbelief in what was sent to Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Sheikh al-Sa
dî in his book Taysîr al-`Azîz al-Hamîd said: “It is understood from the hadîth as it appears that the person who is involved in that will be classified as an unbeliever if he thinks the fortune teller is telling the truth in any way because he will be believing that he, the fortune teller, knows the unseen whether that is given to them from devils or by some inspiration. Most fortune tellers at the time of Prophecy were taking information from the devils”
Visiting a fortune teller is always unlawful, but it is not unbelief in all cases, only when the person believes the fortune teller.

And Allah knows best.

Fortune telling:

Going to financial advisors, finding out the gender of the unborn baby, going to geneticist to find out if the unborn may have a disease or not etc etc... are these haraam?
