Is there any point....

… in getting your wedding filmed? I mean the actual wedding day. As a guest, I’ve always found camera-men super-annoying with those huge lights, and their uncanny way of focusing on you just as you take a huge bite of your tikka! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though. Don’t you think it’d be better to invest in a good photographer who’d take pretty pictures of the shaadi day, and just get your mehndi filmed? Because I’ve noticed that most people rarely end up watching their movies more than once or twice… so it’s really a huge waste. I’m a little confused about this, so please share your experiences and opinions!

Re: Is there any point....

I would get it filmed so later on in life you have no regrets and say "gosh...what if I had gotten it filmed.." And also your so busy that day...u prob won't have time to let the atmosphere sink in, and see your guests properly cause you will be too worried about your dupatta...etc etc...so yea i would get it filmed what's the harm...other than a couple of "bucks" lol! And it will be a great memory to show your kids...cause movies are more entertaing then pictures....imo!

Re: Is there any point....

i think it's just one step farther than taking photos.. if you want to preserve the special moments of your big day, get photos done. if you really want to preserve as much as possible then get it filmed as well. just personal preference.. nothing wrong with it, in my opinion.

Re: Is there any point....

I agree, pics come way more in handy then videos and get viewed a lot more.

But I would suggest getting a good well developed home video made if your not going to get a profession videographer. My cousins wedding had one of the brother in laws making the video with his cam and he was able to catch the important snippets of everything, instead of a fake filmy video that costs so much and half of the scenes are people eating and walking around and socializing.

^i was thinking about that also! completely agree.. professionals don't care as much about getting every important scene as much as making the video look nice and well put together.. they have no problem leaving things out and adding "fluff" clips as long as it fits a certain time limit or goes with the background music. definitely have someone else get everything else on film as well!

Re: Is there any point....

photos are like more memorable
i mean if its filmed your not gonna like watch it every other day

Re: Is there any point....

I think its good to get it filmed sometimes not all family members or friends can attend the wedding,so its the next best thing for them to see.

Re: Is there any point....

Your wedding day is so busy and usually quite long you're not going to remember EVERYTHING in great detail, so a (well made) video is a good way to keep all the memories. My camera crew had 2 cameras on the day, and when I watched my video back it was so nice to see what everyone else was doing whilst I was busy being the bride, how nice everyone else looked, who was talking to who etc.

Photos are fab, but there's nothing like seeing your wedding outfit in motion!

Re: Is there any point....

I agree, I think wedding videos are really important. Anytime we have major family gatherings, we usually bring out the wedding videos and put them on. Its nice to look back at all the memories together and how much fun so and so's wedding was. I've seen all of my cousins videos so many times, its nice to look on them all.

Re: Is there any point....

i agree about the video not being as important. i'd prefer to invest in a good photographer...but i'd probably get it filmed by a fam member. not too interested in a fancy video

Re: Is there any point....

Yeah, the idea of getting it filmed by a family member seems pretty appealing. But then I'd feel guilty about pressuring someone into carting a camera around everywhere instead of enjoying themselves! Decisions decisions...

Re: Is there any point....

no i think you should definitely go for a film as well as photos, coz the film kinda refreshes your memory of the whole wedding...

my brother got married some yrs ago, and we still watch the video sometimes. and i remember a some relatives could not attend the wedding and we had to give a copy of the film to them, so it does come in very handy.

Re: Is there any point....

i personally like photos, nt to bothered about a video :)

i think it shud b filmed....its a precious memory...trust me...i love watching it and everytime i watch it...i love it....actually its on the video that u got to see the ppl and decor n say...oh ye b tha...i dint notice :P i love it!!! :)

Re: Is there any point....

If you have very close relatives or friends who could not attend the wedding for whatever reason--the video is the closest thing to attending the wedding! I do love watching wedding movies over and over--uncles, aunts, and now cousins weddings!
