INSIDE the karachi metropolis - I dont think so.
No historic buildings or other stuff like that. The reason is that karachi is a relatively new city. The city developed after 1947. If you can go out of karachi you may find interesting places, like Chowkundi Tombs, The Shah Jahani Masjid in Thatta etc. These can be visited in a day's trip.
The beaches are not anything to talk about. The beach area, in general, is not developed. Not easily accessible by public transport except for Clifton.
For the history buffs, there is a museum in the old part of the city, the Wazir Mansion (birth place of Quaid e Azam) , The mereweather tower and the Empress Market, which I heard they are trying to restore to its original form.
One other thing worth mentioning is the Sea Turtles, that breed on the beach near karachi, I think the name of the beach is SANDSPIT.

I love Karachi! There's zabardast shopping Malls at cheap prices aswell
there's the Clifton Beach its Brilliant, Hill Park, Tariq Road, Frere Hall
Also Brill places to eat at like laal Killa, and BBQ Tonight. You also get McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and Nandos there if you dont prepfer desi food.
I'll be going in 3 weeks time and i'm so Excited as you can tell!!

Karachi Museum....that was very very long time ago...i don't know if it's the same anymore.....but I loved it at that time.

u have to check out avari hotels roof top its a very nice romantic place to visit & eat......plus you can see the whole of karachi from its balcony.

The Mohatta Palace Museum is a must see. An absolute treat for history buffs.
Janl_Pari, The old karachi musuem is still very good. it's got a lot of stuff. Of course theres much to be desired but overall, it's a nice place with loads of interesting stuff.

and James bhaand is right, Sep to Nov the turtle beaches beyond the hawkes bay and sandspit beaches are a hot spot at night especially on fullmoon nights, ppl go out to see the green turtles lay eggs. its a VERY interesting experience. A turtle takes about 2-3 hours to come to the shore from the water, dig a hole, lay eggs cover them and get back to water.

Thanks for the update. Ya I still remember they had tonns of stuff from Pakistan's history, some thousand years back...it was very interesting.
When we went there, I remember this guy outside was telling us that they also had Quran on display which had Hazrat Usman's blood on it. It was the same Quran he was reading while he was killed. I don't know if it belongs to Karachi Musuem or they borrowed it from an Arab country.
