Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

To all the people,

This gora at work asked me a question if i could prove that if there is life after death. We were just having a conversation and he came up with this question and I asked me if I could make him belive that thee is life after death. According to him its an evalution, and after death nothing happens; the human body just don’t work.
If anyone could help me with this please.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

What kind of proof are you looking for?
References from text? or a philosophical / scientific argumentative proof?

If you read the Quran the answer is there.
Surah Baqarah verse 259 - 260 . Story of Uzayr AS and the question of Ibrahim AS.
(259. Or like the one who passed by a town in ruin up to its roofs. He said: "How will Allah ever bring it to life after its death’’ So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long did you remain (dead)‘’ He (the man) said: "(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or part of a day.‘’ He said: "Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years, look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh.‘’ When this was clearly shown to him, he said, "I know (now) that Allah is able to do all things.‘’)

Prophet Ibrahim asked Allah SWT (Albaqarh 260)
2:260 Behold! Abraham said: “My Lord! Show me how Thou givest life to the dead.” He said: “Dost thou not then believe?” He said: “Yea! but to satisfy My own undertaking.” He said: “Take four birds; Tame them to turn to thee; put a portion of them on every hill and call to them: They will come to thee (Flying) with speed. Then know that Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.”

Explanation fromIbn Kathir. Read from bottomof page verse 259 to next few pages.

Then the 6 pillars of faith are

  1. Belief in Allah
  2. The angels
  3. The divine books revealed
  4. The messengers sent
  5. Destiny from Allah
  6. Resurrection after Death

Logically: How can we experience justice? The life of this world will not bring jsutice to everyone. So there has to be a life after here to provide justice to everyone.

Here is a very good article on the topic

Life After Death
By World Assembly of Muslim Youth

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

*Tell him K Qabar ka haal sirf Qabar waley he jantay hein. To experience life after death YOU HAVE TO DIE FIRST and no one has come back to brief us after dieing. *

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

YES, the proof positive came when these two priests posing as Muslims were digging a tunnel to the Our Prophet's (PBUH) Roza Mubarak, and Rasul Allah(PBUH) came to the ruler of Madina at the time in his dream and showed him their faces, so he could recognize them in a line up the next day.
1400 yrs after He(PBUH) passed away, would come to this ruler and inform of an emminent danger that was real.

**Don't you think that is proof of Life for our spirits after death?:) **

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

^ someone can still deny that. There is no "proof", if God had left such proof open for us to see, why would we have the 'test' then?

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

id there was no life after death...sh*T ..i would've been rich

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

why dont u give ur friend a philosophical answer to this..

tell him to assume that hes playing some game, lets say basketball.. now the point of playing any game ( in this case basketball ) is to try to win... he'd put all his effort on the game... keep getting 3 pointers and doing dunks... now after the game is done.... we tell him that the outcome of the game was 0-0 ... meaning he did not win.. how'd he feel??

same goes for the life..... if u continue doing good deeds.. and in the end theres no reward of it..... why exactly is he still living??...

i hope u get my point... if not ill try to put it in some other senereo to make it more understandable.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

hmmm... I always have been motivated by, and thought God 's intentions were for me to do good deeds because it pleases Him and because it is the right thing to do. Not for selfish reasons like expecting rewards or eternal pleasure.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

why would you please Him?

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

Also, does it matter if you displease him?

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

who ever ask for prof send them there…:naraz:.after death place

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

say him prove other 99 % of quran wrong
then this part will also wrong
if that is true then this will also be true

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

Why you have to prove it from Quran, Why not bible in which he beleives in...? If he is not accepting what Bible says then how can he accept the reference from Quran ????

In that case he should prove that evalution is mentioned in Bible, if not then you are already a winner.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

Why do you try to please him now? You imply it is only for a shot at paradise.

For a literalist or fundamentalist, he does for no other reason than that He commands it.

For a spiritual person, he does it because it is the right thing to do. Because he wants to and feels compelled to. Because God wants him to.

If one gives or sacrifices something only expecting something in return, then it was not a genuine gift or sacrifice. That's not belief, that's blackmail. That's not worship, it's selfishness.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

That is all good, but I wonder if God were to neither punish disobedient nor reward obedient ones, what would you have done.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

It would change nothing you would have done, you just would have done it for the right reasons, not selfish ones. And you would have done it to please God, not yourself.

Besides, God can reward us during this lifetime, as individuals and as race.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

That would mean that all the Prophets like Job (pbuh), who had pus and sores all over his body or Jesus (pbuh) who was supposedly crucified or Mohammed (pbuh) who was pelten with rocks, abused and chased from his own house and city and countless other Prophets led accursed lives while the Pharoah, the Romans and People of Lot were blessed because they had an abundance of wealth and power…

If rewards could be collected in this lifetime, the greatest rewards would be reaped by those who had led the most painful lives…

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

I'm sure all the prophets sacrificed, taught and showed the way for God - not for the hidden desire to go to paradise. That's the way it should be for prophet, or any man that worships and believes.

There are many ways God can reward us as individuals and as a result mankind, while here on earth. The rewards are intangbile and spiritual in nature, not wealth and power. You can make a deal with the devil if you want wealth and power.

It's a shame to think Earth is nothing more than a cesspool weigh station. It is a perfect creation with abundant love, joy and beauty that God has given us to enjoy.

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

God is perfection and Paradise is a place of perfection…Those that reach God reach perfection…

Earth is not a perfect creation…It is deliberately made flawed and temporary full of pain, hardships, diseases, trials, temptations e.t.c. so that those that make it out of it with God in their hearts will reach the perfect place…

What good is the way to God if it doesn’t take you to a place of perfection…All it is is a life led by whims, greed, doubts and a life led by an overwhelming desire to feed one’s lower self…

If that is perfection for you, so be it…And there are those who kill, destroy, maim, torture and brutalize entire nations to make it even more perfect for themselves…In the end, for their efforts, they wind up in another perfect place…The place of perfect pain…Hellfire…

Re: Is there any evidence that there is life after death?

Those whose lives are led by whims, greed, doubts and a life led by an overwhelming desire to feed one's lower self are the very ones hoping for a carnal pleasurdome afterlife.

Others seeking spiritual closeness to God can do so right here on earth, with rewards coming now, and later. God is perfection and so is his creation.

Be that as it may, no one should pretend to be faithful or worship God if the only reason they are doing it is for a shot at paradise.

This simplistic view of heaven and hellfire is for those who can't think for themselves without threats and rewards as one uses with children or animals.
