This is an usual topic. It is perhaps against the ethics.
But this is a common thing in our society.
I myself don’t believe on this.
But is there any difference between " Kammees "and other casts .
Some time it looks that thousands years of this division in Indopak made some difference. Genetic or otherwise.

Re: Is there any difference between "Kamee" and others
WELL,,,its gonna be long. most of us who are from Subcontinent region were all once either Hindus or (in some cases) Sikhs and we were all converted to Islam mainly from 8th Century to 18th. The problem is we didnt let go of the things we were doing before.
Baradari system has a too much of importance in our people. Many People would marry their educated daughters in higher caste or their level of caste to a non-educated, low charactered boy then to marry them in lower caste to a doctor or engineer.
Lower castes are...
Kamee.... kam karnay wala means nauker, servant a name given to people to used to work for landlords and other rich persons in 15/16th century.
Faqir..... beggers ...its simple, they used to beg for money or food.
Barwala...????? well they used to make simple household things, hand fans, mats, sheets.
Lohar......they used to work in blacksmiths and used to make iron stuff. btw many of the Lohars are proud of their caste who know their ancestors.
Tarkhan.. Carpenter.
Mauchi....cobblers...
Mirasi......(i dont know the eng term) they used to entertain people in the marriages and functions by performing.
according to Islam a person who earns his livelihood by working with his hands is earning the 2nd most highest earning in Islam
hence in Islam Tarkhan, lohars, kamee, and Mauchi got much more respect than a banker or a lawyer or even a teacher.
I am a Lawyer btw and you'll be surprised how far will people go to honor theirs castes. almost everyday there is new story relating to caste that we hear in court.
Re: Is there any difference between "Kamee" and others
^ditto
everyone is equal
Re: Is there any difference between "Kamee" and others
All are equal... This caste-system is something we carried on from the days of pre-Islamic Hinduism or Jaahiliyyah.
"Kami" shouldn't be considered hereditory, any tribe can change their profession.
and there is nothing wrong with kami, if the kaam they are doing is halaal.
"Kammees" are genetically superior to other castes....meaning they are stronger and have more endurance.
In our school, we had to study art & crafts for 3 years. brothers took metal work, I took woodworking.
Plus father made us work around the house, even the dirtiest jobs.
So I don't really see why ppl working with are any different then others.
When I use to get my own stuff made for sports, I use to work for hrs with the showmaker at his place.
I use to bring him over to our house too fix stuff.
Re: Is there any difference between "Kamee" and others
The differences stem from the fact that the kammees didn't have land in the old punjabi village culture, hence they did certain jobs for those who owned land, that is jatts, in return for a part of the grain and other things.
A 'lohar' for example did metal works that is he made ploughs and other tools used in land cultivation and got a portion of the grain at harvest time. It was more of an economic association. Of course there was abuse and jatts considered themselves superior to the kammes but the underlying reason was an economic dependence on each other.
In Punjab at least, a kamme is one who does 'kam' or work for others. It just differenciated them from jatts who were land owners. Kamme is a blanket term that describes many different trades, such as lohar, mochi, maachi, cheemba, tarkhaan etc.
