A day or two before presidential elections on a private TV channel there was a programme Great Debate. The speakers in presence of hundreds of audience were Sh. Rashid Ahmed, Raza Qasuri, Dr. Salman Shah, Sartaj Aziz, Sher Afghan, etc. The programme compares asked the Minister’s side to speak about General Musharraf for three minutes. Sh. Rashid took the mike and his first sentence was “General Pervaiz Musharraf is the one against whom not a single finger can be raised for any personal corruption” . He further added and which I definitely remember among other things praising General Musharraf is that “he has not made any house outside.
I had always respected General Pervaiz Musharraf from my heart. Though I never liked his policies the top one being that he has got surrounded himself with murderers, loan defaulters etc and that in his rule Tomato was being sold at Rs. 140/- and he is on record saying why people do not stop using tomato in their kitchens. In comparison to Benazir, Nawaz I preferred General Musharraf. But my this respect went down when I read three four months back in a foreign newspaper a small news item. It said that Begum Musharraf was going to USA for attending their daughter’s graduation ceremony and on return she would stay for two weeks in Bostom (or perhaps Hoston) for renovation of their house. Their house in USA? This shattered the picture I had about him. However hearing Sh. Rashid that General has no house abroad I felt my mistake that without any authentic information I should not had trusted on a foreign news item. My confidence on his to a good extent came back. But now I do not know what should I take reading that like other land mafia around him he too had taken a big piece of land around Islamabad for food and poultry purposes, got high quality special roads around his plot to increase its market price but is not producing vegetables and poultry on that plot. The charge sheet issued by General Musharraf against Nawaz Sharif also included that Nawaz Sharif had made roads around his Raiwind Farm House and near his residence in Lahore from government sources. Why all the TV programmes, columnists, writers keep increasing blood pressure of we the commoners by releasing such items which only increase our heart burns on these munafiqats.

your news is false musharraf has no houses abroad, you are the first person whos mentioned this, and even if you had read it in a article it was probably false otherwise it would have come up in the media in a big way with other channels and newspapers reporting it, especially with the massive media pakistan has today which leaves no stones untuned.

If you read something wrong or propaganda, it does not make that true, does it? Check what all newspapers have written (though some wrote it in twisted way to misguide readers).
What is written in newspapers and is news at many places is that, people got allotted number of plots for vegetable farming in Islamabad. They were allotted plots at subsidised prices on condition that they would do farming (milk and vegetables) to fulfil the needs of Islamabad. All such allotments happened before President Musharraf came to power.
Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz both bought a piece of these allotted plots from original Allottees at market price of such plots (that is obviously higher than if they were used for allotted purpose of agriculture, but lower than normal price of such plots if that could be used for residential purpose). Supreme Court has taken suo moto action and asked Islamabad authorities to find out if owners of such plots are using these plots for the purpose it was allotted, and if not than allotments of such plots should get cancelled. So, at present Islamabad authorities are doing investigation on uses of plots (nothing has come out yet to say what plots are not getting used for the purpose they were allotted).
Now here is the twist some newspapers have done. Some published the name of Allottees (with heading that Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz also have such allotted plots) but did not mention that who got the allotments and who bought those plots. One could have said that President got those plots allotted at very subsidies rates than that would have been corruption. But President did not got the plot allotted to him. President bought those plots from market at prevailing price, and that is not corruption (as long as money used to buy those plots were legally earned money).
As for development work and getting high quality special roads around his plot to increase its market price is concerned, there is no such news anywhere. I do not know where you read that? Though I wont be surprised that if roads are made in the areas where such plots exists, though I believe that such roads must already have got made before Musharraf time, as purpose of these plots are to grow agricultural goods for Islamabad and without good road network, even if plots are used for purpose allotted, no goods could come to Islamabad. But if such roads were not built before Musharraf time, to get those roads built is good thing to do, as that is part of general development. As long as roads are not specific to particular area or benefiting particular desirable plots, that is desirable development work to do.
