Just went through this link and wondered if its true.
Do you think there is a specific good time or day when we can get great deals on airline tickets?

Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
I read somewhere (I think it was a yahoo homepage article of the day), the best/better day is Wednesday. From personal experience, I have not observed if I found cheaper fares on certain days. I’ve gotten last minute fares and advanced booking, and saw little/no difference for domestic.
Will be keen to check different days on the next trip, and report back. ![]()

I've read somewhere that in early hours of the morning are best to buy ticket because of cheap fare.
Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
i think Mondays and Tuesdays are good days to travel from cheaper airfare point of view. as far as best time of the day to get cheaper airfares is concerned, red-eye flights [around midnight] are usually cheaper.
in addition, a month or a month and a half before your planned trip is the best time to start looking for fares for best offers.
if you ask for techniques, try multi search engines to explore best deals. once you find it, go directly to the airline. some bucket online travel agencies are better to be avoided. direct purchase from the airline saves you a lot of hassles in case you have to change and/or cancel your flights.
one last thing, often nearby airports in the same city (if any) or in a different city are cheaper to fly in and out.
Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
i fly within the US a couple of times each month. prices are cheapest for red-eye flights, Tue-Thu. but much of the price depends on your origin and destination, and time of the year. The variation from weekday to weekend is not enormous if you can book 4 weeks or more in advance. last minute fares are almost always crazy, and you end up in the worst seats. book early. use freq. flyer miles for the busiest flying times of the year for most $ per mile.
Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
oh, one more thing.
sometimes flights with one or more stops are cheaper than direct or non-stop flights.
Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
I think its a myth that Tuesday or Wednesday mornings are the best time to buy a ticket. As long as you are buying a month in advance, you will getthe best price. Best doesn't mean cheap. It's just the best price for the route and the days you're planning to fly

Wednesdays are supposed to be auspicious.

Re: Is there any best day to buy cheaper airline ticket?
orthodox/superstitious Hindus consider wednesday an unauspicious day to travel and, as a result, unreserved coaches of the Indian trains were relatively less crowded as far back as two decades ago. most Muslims chose to travel on wednesdays in order to travel more comfortably.
