Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

Is the English word بل the most common word used for bill, or is there some other word in Urdu for those demand notes from the utilities?..

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

I guess 'Chaalan' :@:

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

Would you say something like bijli ka chalaan?

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

i think it will be called "raseed"...though not fully correct but to some extent yes.

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

Is this raseed word an Arabic or Persian derived word, or is it from the English "receipt"?

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

i think its derived from the english word "receipt" because i havenot heard any arabic or persian associations with it.

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

Raseed is Persian derived, the English and Urdu speakers borrowed this from Farsi vocabulary, just like many other words. :)

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

Great, thank you!

Next question: which is more commonly used bil or raseed?

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for “bill”?

wait wait wait. First lets clear about the ‘bill’ :rule:

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

they are both commonly used (in pakistan or outside like uk)

for example for electricity, gas, telephone etc its always bill and for shops/stores from where you have bought something its receipt....very few people call shop receipts, bill.

Re: Is there another word in Urdu besides بل for "bill"?

In arabic we call 'bill' as 'Fatora'. Raseed like others said is used in persian and farsi.

I guess both r used commonly and like b06 said, i agree.
