Is there an evil side of cricket ?

It is a friendly discussion, please don’t take it as an offense.

Have you ever felt this at any stage of your life that cricket has taken your time (thinking, talking, listening, watching…etc) more than it deserves ?

Like does it sometimes refrain you from doing other relatively more important acts like performing your family, social, official, religious duties in life ?

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Let me put it in terms of this forum

Does it refrain you from learning, discussing, thinking about other aspects of life.

I am not pointing at anyone but at myself, because I have been through a stage when only cricket seemed to be on my mind more than anything else, and was causing hinderance to other things like learning about moral values, gaining professional knowledge of my field, ....etc. and other aspects of life which I felt were more beneficial to me. ( Which I have learned alot on this forum)

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Cricket is like any other sport that you can spend hours and hours talking, watching, listening to. It's like any other hobby that robs you of our precious time.

Just be aware of this and you will enjoy life.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Yeah it did to me.

I can wake up early morning for a match even if I have slept for an hour but if I were to wake up for Fajar or Tahajut I would probably mis it.

Also some times I am guilty of delaying my Zohar....:(

And I wasted so much time watching cricket at job instead I could have advanced my self in QTP...dyme...I regret it every day but than every day I sit in office and waste time watching cricket. :(

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

cricket is just another sport, like if you are interested in a sport then surely ull use ur time watching or playing but then tht depends on u and how much time ur prepared to give up .:halo:Cricket doesn’t necessary hve to take ur time and get in the way of religous duties if ur strong on tht …thn there shouldnt be a problem .:k:

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

WE BEAT AUSTRALIAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............
damn its worth any thing (other then religious activity)

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

You have to keep balance between cricket and your regular life. It's up to you how you balance things out.
But if cricket, internet of any other thing is taking over your life then you got problems. (If you open a thread in cafe because kuch kuch hota hay, for example, then you got issues :) ) Don't let "virtual life" interfere with your regular life or religious duties. But at the same time enjoy both.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Locally since its summer here…than all the telecast that I get of all the test playing nations…if not every day but for sure every week. Also you lose track due to watching cricket from my religious and normal activity.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Warning !

Don't watch Pak India match if;

  1. You are a heart patient.

  2. You lose your sleep for months due to over excitement or over sadness.

:D

p.s. Please do pray in any case at the time of iftar + darood shareef

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Lots of activities have their times fixed, in one's lifetime. If either you have never watched that one sport before or if you are in a boat where taking a hobby up a few notches is where all the glamour is, it is all worth the time and effort spent. One can only learn when both the mind and the body are completely in sync with each other. We, society as a whole, have learnt to compromise a set of values with another set of values, and it is quite the fact that when change takes place, some things will eventually get left out and some will be welcomed in the circle, and there is no right or wrong sides in this matter. Time to learn has always been very near. It is a matter of how much further one is willing to take the passion to. Fascinating is when people from all walks of life come together to form a common bond.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

yeah man ofcourse
cricket is in our blood
cant get up in time to do something important, but cricket no problem (infact i couldnt sleep before india-pak final)

you just have to learn and understand your priorities, but nothing wrong with watching the sport you love and getting upset when your team loses, just realize when ur going overboard. last year was the worst for me and it doesnt help that the matches are 8 hours long or 5 days long. I think 20/20 is the future due to this.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Yes ofcourse..........

I sometimes find myself spending more time in KK than I really should. But as many have said here you just have to be sensible about it and know when things are getting out of hand. As long as your enjoyment is not interfering with your work and family life it's all good.

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

Re: Is there an evil side of cricket ?

May Allah SWT reward you for coming into to KK and taking such a bold step of drawing attention to the "real" game. The game of win and loose that really matters i.e., our deeds and actions for the life hereafter.

Yes, like any other sport, cricket is very engrossing and can very easily consume the major portion of our lives. Its requires check to maintain a balance. I do fear today that it causes more harm then good to watch **cricket or any other sport.
**Playing
cricket is a totally different phenomenon though. If done with moderation it is fruitful for mind and body like other major sports.

Again, Barakullahu Feekum!
