Just wondering if this question ever popped into somebody’s head. Why do we have different number of rakah in prayers. What is the significance of that? I couldn’t find an answer or thought that satisfied me so hear I am asking now. Ofcourse I know its in obedience to Allah SWT however has there ever been another known reason?

well the prophet peace be upon him read hes prayers in these ways but the respected schools of thoughts have differed in there respected ways
but which ever way they have said on how to pray its perfectly right hence the schools of thoughts are all right
I don't think there is any difference of opinion regarding the rakah in each prayer. Don't know about Shia schools of thought though.

its like what hazrat Umar said may Allah bless him
he looked at the hajre aswad on the kabah and said that i only kiss you because the prophet peace be upon you kisses you
so i believe its one of those things which are hard to explain but because the prophet peace be upon him did it we do it
but if there is an explanation then ill look it up and ill reply but hopefully if anyone knows they'll give a better answer than me...inshahallah

....and other brothers & sisters in Islam.
That is a misconception you are placing in this chat Massive. We DO NOT pray the number of rakaa's becasue our beloved prophet Mohammad (pbuh) prayed that way. Rather we should emphasize it as follows.... "We pray the number of rakaa's as has been prescribed by Allah (swt) to prophet Mohammad (pbuh)."
...and Allah knows best, why we pray the number of rakaa's that we pray. Alhumdulillah that we pray. and may Allah (swt) give us more taifeeq to continue to pray our salaah and in a manner as the rasool-Allah use to pray. insha'Allah.
