Re: Is there a Published writer on GS.

Oh, acha. :)

There is a guppy named guru8904, who has published a book. I believe the book is political in nature. You can talk to him about the steps involved in the publishing process.

I've done some research of my own about the publishing process. If you're interested in publishing a book, it's quite a long journey. Here is the gist of what you need to do:

1) Go to Barnes and Noble and purchase a book titled, The Writer's Market. This book contains a list of publishers and what type of book each publishing company is interested in. This will be a good reference source for you. You should also look at book of** Literary Agents** in the US. Your** literary agent** can help convince publishers to take a look at your story.

2) After you have written your story (fiction or non-fiction).....look at the literary agents who would be interested in the subject matter of your book. And contact them. Each literary agent has their own rules for contact. Some want you to email them and give them a summary of your story. Some want to you to send them a query letter along with a sample from your story. So read the requirements of each literary agent carefully before contacting them.

3) If the publisher is interested, you'll get a contract. It can take anywhere from 1-3 years for your book to get published. The publishing company will help market your book.

4) Most authors don't make a lot of money and work two jobs. You will get payed a percentage each time your book sells. Part of that percentage goes to your literary agent, possible illustrator, and of course the publishing company.

This is what I remember from my research. It's quite a tedious process. Hope the info helps. You can also research the process on the Internet :)
