i’ve lived half of my life in a village but unfortunately never saw it or heard about it. May be its a regional thing or it may have been used before i was even born :)**

Where have you lived? Dandasa is very known thing in Rajhistan, Sindh, Punjab (both sides), Peshawar area and some more. I dont think its known in Eastern India.
