Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

YES...the word gandumi is an adjective of the farsii word "gandum" meaning WHEAT. :)

Namak Pun is simply kashish (attraction).

It is not simply beauty. It is more than that.

It does not depend on color of the person, nor it depends on beauty in usual terms.

A lot of gori women are not attractive. They just have pale/white color, simple features and absolutely no attraction.

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

Did they not send a picture along with the bio-data for the rishta?

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

;)

Bhai, in desi culture since almost every gori is considered attractive, hence the word namkeen is not commonly used for them.

However, word 'Pheeka' is used for goris as opposed to namkeen if not attractive for some.

Literally speaking namak is attraction however.

Anyways, forget it.

Namak comes from the sea.

Listen to this song.

Samandar Mein Naha Ke Aur Bhi Namkeen Ho Gai Ho. :)

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

I believe *gandami * means olive tone, whereas *sanwala * equals dusky complexion.

I'd describe Sushmeta Sen as Sanwali, whereas I'd use the the term gandami for Katrina Kaif.

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

gandami is just a nicer way to say sanwala, but in desi terms, it just means you're kala.

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

This was not for a rishta! I was looking at some "Most Wanted Terrorist" posters and some have their complexion described as gandumi, and some have it as sanvala, so I was trying to remember which is lighter or darker. I think of sanvala as like Denzel Washington, but I also remember it being explained as "wheat-coloured." So that was why I was unsure.

But I knew this was the place to ask!

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

i don't think so...we use these words in urdu for two diffrent skin colors...gandumi is lighter than saaNwlaa for sure...:)

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

Murgi you’re wrong :zobo:

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

shut it nomiCA  you know i’m always right :snooty:

KKF, doesn’t matter which is lighter than which, in the end if they’re not called “saaf rang wala” or “gora rung” it just means they’re kala. Thank you for your input when it wasn’t required

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

gandami is wheatish complexion
saanwala hona is dark, blackish

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

:hat:

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

OK, so then what about "saaf"? Lighter than gora, or darker?

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

saaf means the skin is clear…it between gandami and gora…

lighter than gandami darker than gora…:chai:

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

OK, here's another question: When someone is described as having a کشادہ پیشانی kashaadah peshaani, would you say that means a high forehead? کشادہ means expansive, yes? Or does it mean a broad forehead?

Re: Is there a difference between sanvala and gandami?

^ broad forehead

sahih kaha aapnay.....namkeen means attraction which is always has been associated to sanwali larki..... Not gori.

p.s. chooro jaanay do, bhala 'diwaanay' bhi kabhi kissi ki baat suntay hain? :P
